Pete M
Yes, I did in fact spend that much on a horn and air compressor kit. Was it the smartest use of money on the Jeep? No. Was it worth it in the long run? IMO, yes. I was 17 and my paychecks didn't have to be spent on anything essential, so I just bought stupid crap. If eBay would let me go back that far in my purchase history, I'd be glad to show y'all. I have can post pictures of my setup and of the box it originally came in. As long as it was worth it to you, in the long run, that's all that matters. How old are you now? I'm 25 now. In hind sight, I should have been a little more savvy with my money back then. I certainly wouldn't go and spend that much on a horn now lol. No sweat. All of us have made expensive impulse purchases we may have regretted later. And you really never outgrow it. yup, I too remember having more money than brains back in the day (*cough* dual sunroofs *cough*).

I bought a 25 year old Jeep pickup for $400, then turned around and spent 3K+ plus on it...that's why I'm broke now.... I love the cannon idea too...or faux missles on a rotating faux launcher.
mpace6a
I don't have or need a horn. I mounted a 155mm cannon and turret from a surplus army tank on my MJ. Needed spring boosters and heavy duty shocks . Somebody gets in my way, or just annoys me, I swing the turret around and point the barrel at them. Gets better results than any horn ever did. This really wouldnt suprise me. Or even jim having a 155mm cannon sitting in a barn somewhere. On this subject, i have seen a setup where a guy rigged up a semi-auto 12ga shotgun under his hood. removed the stock, extended mag, yadda yadda. Used a trunk latch solenoid to work the trigger. Obviously not legal, and i in no way accept any responsibility for anyone dumb enough to attempt to set this up on their vehicle. Still...rather genius i must say. Jerry
The Fiamm electric horns work real well and they are cheap. $30 something for a pair (hi+lo tone). http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000DINKPQ

Not any louder than stock.
Jerry
No it's not air horn loud but it's much louder than stock. 130 something decibels I believe, loud enough to get the attention of any driver even with windows rolled up and music blasting (In my experience anyway). Gotta be a pair though (hi + lo tone). I recommend them as a much more simple replacement than air horns with all their compressors and relays and pipes. Worth noting that you cannot tell properly by listening to a video that has automatic electronic noise leveling. You can hear the tone but not the volume. GHayduke
If you get a Wolo 419 Bad Boy horn or the knock-off above, it will not be as loud as a real air-horn, but for a jeep definitly Much louder 118 dB, 530/680 Hz http://www.harborfreight.com/bad-boy-air-horn-94117.html Or they now show a Big Bad Max at 123dB. Cost wise these are a cheapish easy addition, one horn, one relay, & wire. if twined in with the existing or upgraded horns. On my Dodge I have all on the same button, two factory horns, a low Bull Horn, http://www.farmandfleet.com/products/392585-wolo-bull-horn.html and the twin bad boy horn. Almost loud enough over the Cummins 12Valve roar... One of the electric PA style horn units might be a option too. The horn sound I really want is the Fire Truck / Ambulance electronic low honk, simulating a old air horn.

AMCJeepMJ
I use a dual-trumpet airhorn I picked up from AutoZone a few years back. It is wired to an aux horn button on the dash and is very piercing. The sound is similar to a Ferrari/Lamborghini/RoachCoach air horn.
