Hey Coffman! Your homeboy from Tasmania, Marcos Ambrose, is doing his usual butt-kicking at the NASCAR Watkins Glen road course today. The only way he can be beat is if his car breaks. Hell of a driver.

He led the 1st half of the race, there was a caution, everyone pitted. He had a less than stellar pit stop, came back out about 6th place, and steadily lost positions until he went into the wall by himself. He had obvious handling problems, the rear end and the track bar were mentioned. I like him too. He's the best road racer in NASCAR.

Yeah he drives a Ford for Richard Petty. I felt bad for the guy today.

Saying Ford and Richard Petty in the same sentence sounds like a sacrilege. I remember him mostly back in the day dominating NASCAR with his Mopar Plymouth Superbirds and Dodge Daytonas. I was a closet fan then though of David Pearson, a Ford guy.

Well Hornbrod, Its funny you should say as it turns out I use to race Go-Karts against Marcos. Whipped is @$$ on the odd occasion. Love to watch him these days. He was top of the tree in the Aussie V8 before NASCAR

Marcos is normally the man and rules at the Glen, but the way Jeff Gordon has been NASCAR born-again, he'll have some tough competition. I like both of those guys. The big one starts in about two hours............

And they're off! I love the road courses; going round and round making left turns gets boring.

Taking bets Danica crashes before lap 75.....................

Hey Don, whose the man.....

Hell of a slam-bang race as per usual at the Glen. Sorry mate, your boy came up just short. Both Marcos and AJ gave it everything they had.

Man wish I could have seen it, mixing left hand down with right hand down makes for a interesting day at the track..

Go easy on Danica...noice

Twas a great road race. Marcos was probably the superior driver, but AJ's Chevy clearly was more powerful than the Petty Ford. AJ beat him out every time on the restarts, and Marcos just didn't have the HP to get around him at the end.

I heard that too Coffman. Also heard Team Penske is coming to over to Oz next year to campaign in the V8 Supercars Championship. Guess who will be driving for Team Penske? Let's just say Penske will have a great driver. Heh-heh.

When I used to travel around down there I always rented the baddest Ford Falcon they had or sometimes a Ute. Years ago I owned both a 65 Falcon Sprint and 64 Ranchero and have loved Falcons ever since. Wish we still made them...........

Yep, confirmed last night on the local news. Will be driving for Dick Johnson a legend in his own right ( but drives Fords ) backed by your man Penske.

Dick says 2015 will be a learning curve, 2016 a championship. I says Marcos will be on the podium within his first 3 races. Before he left for the states he was at the top of the tree in V8 super cars.

Lets hope he hasn't forgotten how to turn right.

While in the Navy our ship was lucky enough to stop in Adelaide and it just so happened the Adelaide 500 was being ran.  A bunch of us headed uptown and spent the day drinking beer and watching these guys road race.  We stood at the big u-turn just before the start finish line..... man those guys can really drive.... and I absolutely love those V8 Supercars.

I'm right there with ya Don.  I lost interest in NASCAR eons ago when they quit using production cars.  Seriously........ what's still Ford about that car?  Nothing except the sponsorship.

But I do gotta hand it to the drivers....... that's some brutal stuff.  I got to go 3 laps at 200 mph in Vegas at the Richard Petty Driving Experience.  That stuff is no joke.
