floundering
Thanks to all the great posts, you guys have inspired me to fix one up as well. I'm just getting started here. I got both, the donor and my comanche, mostly stripped down.
Zachariah
This is exactly what is going on in my garage ha. Whats your plan for it?
floundering
This will be my new daily driver so I plan to do her up real nice. I'll put a stroker motor in it (the engine is currently down at the machine shop), spiff up the interior a little more, and give her a real mild lift. I got the front clip moved over. I still need to weld a bit up around the stryker but I'll get back to that. I hung the old doors on the donor so no critters would find their way in there. floundering
I got some of the interior done. When I was doing the steering bracket, I welded bolts to the kick panel area but in retrospect, riv-nuts would have been much easier. I used those other places. For the top of the dash, I used tape and temporarily put the dash up to mark the holes. It turns out, that the 2 outer holes on both sides have holes that line up on the comanche. I did use them for the two center bolts though.
floundering
For the bottom dash bracket, the holes lined up on the bead of the sheet metal. I put them both inward a little so I could be on the flat part and notched the bracket. By the way, you don't need a riv-nut installer to use these. Just put a serrated nut facing the rivnut to hold it from moving and zip a bolt in with you air gun. Don't go crazy or you'll strip the riv-nut. You will hear your impact slow when it gets crushed. floundering
Parking brake was fairly easy. Cut the bottom off (as the cable doesn't come from underneath anymore) and use the cut off piece and welded it up top, a little further back ( the comanche cable is a little bit longer). Finally, an automatic.

floundering
No guesses on what the recliner assemblies were out of? I'll give you a hint, they weren't off a 2 door cherokee, they're a direct bolt on, and they're plentiful in wrecking yards.
89MJMILSPEC
Do tell please. I would love buckets in my comanche so I can run a center console of sorts.

shelbyluvv
http://comancheclub.com/topic/15375-making-zj-or-wj-seats-tilt-forward/ Here is a write up for ZJ seats. Same deal though. Good work on the conversion man!
floundering
Okay, I searched for months on ebay and looking in local wrecking yards for those stupid 2 door cherokees so I had to make you guys work for it a little  These are for the 97+ XJ seats and with the above link, it sounds like they will work on ZJ and WJ seats as well. Are you ready? Can you believe the 97-02 TJ uses the exact same recliner assembly as the 2 door cherokee?!!? Well, it does have a little nub on the release lever for a cable to hook up to also but other than that, same same. To think of all the wranglers I walked past looking for these stupid recliners. Rymanrph
I guess its a regional thing. Maybe the regular wrecking yards have Wranglers, but none of the you pull yards around here ever have them. I think I've seen one YJ, but never a TJ, but good find.
floundering
Lots of scrubbing and painting. I'm hoping this stuff holds up as well as the factory interior paint.
floundering
Relocated the airbag controller back to its original location. It's sitting about an inch off the ground so I don't think I should have any corrossion issues. That left me some room to locate the ABS acceleration switch where the airbag module was. Also, got some wiring done and dynamatted.

floundering
Finally got my engine back from the machine shop. It's a balanced, blueprinted, and ported 4.7 liter. Not the ideal situation with having a downhill slope gravel driveway.
jbain
Really nice.... where did you get the header? My brother has a 4.6 with a 505 head and crank.... he's looking for a header like that.
