Why in the world would ANYONE want a MJ?

What in the world would ANYONE want a MJ for?

Not sure which one was the better phrasing so I used them both.

i always thought they were different, and i rarely see them. the whole reason i got into cherokees. now a bunch are showing up for sale near me, and i got my eyes on a 91

Yes, get a 91 or 92 if possible. Easier to work on, easier to find parts, and much more reliable. You will hear some noise from the antiquated Renix aficionados, but don't believe it. None of it is true.

But we all get along - as long as it's MJ.

I just like the build process. The Xj will always be my trail jeep. The mj will be more of a dd/ beach/ show truck haha

It's an 86, 2.8 and ax5. Not ideal but good body and lower miles, just over 100k, bought from the original owner

Same as mine. Carb sucks, motor sucks. Better carb helps, but only as long as the motor lives. Treat it nice, and the 2.8 should do good. Mines been running a year with no issues until the original carb died.
