dasbulliwagen
Ive always wondered how a roof rack would look going back over the bed a bit and tied into a rollbar.
Zebvance
WTF?!??
MJ_Milam
WTF?!?? So does that mean you get a refund and keep the roof rack?
HOrnbrod
Just a wild guess - Perhaps they haven't sold too many over the years and they are stored outside?
Zebvance
No I already sent the roof rack back because he said he would send me a new one with no rust on it. I'm flipping pissed now. They are not returning my emails. This is the ONLY roof rack that will fit on the cab. I looked for hours. Now WTH am I suppose to do.
JFAComanche6
You bought that roof rack new?

Biotex
Ask them to send you one anyway, at a discounted price and remove the rust yourself.
Zebvance
That's what I'm trying to do but their Customer service is terrible
Zebvance
got in touch with them again today. they let me buy one rusted for
Biotex
So, $50 off huh! I suppose that isn't too bad of a deal.
Zebvance
Yea but to get it powder coated its going to cost 200. I'm just going to have to sand it down myself and rattle can it. It's just going to be a pain in the @$$ to sand that expanded metal.
gogmorgo
^sandblaster. If not, a wire wheel may help you out.
JFAComanche6
I'd go with sandblasting, I've nearly been eaten by a wire brush multiple times trying to clean expanded metal which is why I don't do it anymore.
Zebvance
Can't. Don't have a way to get to a sandblaster.
JFAComanche6
I guess all I can say is that really sucks that whoever you bought that rack from is sending you one brand new with rust all on it already, that's just ridiculous.

Zebvance
For the tire carrier I cam up with this while at the Metal yard. 1 1/4" x 7" blot with a "I" nut. Tack welded it on the top and welded the bolt to a washer on the bottom, then the washer to the plate.
Zebvance
Then welded the plate to the roof basket
Zebvance
Then painted it and here is the result. I took 10 bolts and drilled a hole through the frame and the basket and attached the two.
Zebvance
Then I attached my dual row led 40 inch light bar and hi lift jack and put it all on the truck.
Zebvance
I will admit.... It is a bit goofy lol. But I don't think anyone has done it. ONE OF A KIND  It is surprisingly very very stout and doeskin look like it is putting to much stress on the roof or roof rails. I will try to get some more pictures up tonight when it is not so bright outside. So from start to finish..... ez go golf cart roof rack, some jcr roof rack mounts, some square tubing and a big @$$ bolt, lots of beer., and There ya go. MJ ROOF RACK! mountainman
What did i miss? Why make a rack to haul stuff, then put the spare tire right in the middle of it? Rendering the rack useless. Make a carrier for the spare off the tailgate, or standing up in the bed off to one side. Or even float it off the back of the rack.
