Bmoore2
Hey guys, My mechanic is having one hell of a time with this Spartan locker and carrier in my dana 30. The line up pin that goes in the carrier through the locker is not lining up right. What is the fix? It's getting really frustrating. Can someone please help me? I'm am sure I have the right carrier as I have ordered 2 thinking the first one was wrong. The locker is the spartan for dana 30. I can get part number if that would help. Bmoore2
Spartan Lockers Spartan Lockers SL D30-27 That is the locker I bought
Bmoore2
I just watched a video of a spartan install. If he has not removed the little pins that hold the springs down before trying to insert the line up pin will that cause it not to line up right? The locker hole is not lining up with the large cross pin and the carrier hole. Sorry I had to do a little more digging.

MJ_Milam
have you talked to anyone from standard gears? they list a part number for a carrier that works with the locker
Bmoore2
I bought the second carrier from rob at rwkhaussupply.com. He insured me I have the right carrier. I am wondering if he is installing it wrong. I don't think he has pulled the pins that hold the 4 springs down. I am just very frustrated... I want my truck back. MJ_Milam
those pins are for installation. once the locker is in the carrier you remove them
ComancheKid45
He quite possibly has the locker installed backwards inside the carrier, itll only sit in there 1 way for the cross pin to completly be installed. I ran into the same issue when i rebuilt mine a few weeks ago, he'll have to get everything out, reassemble, and reinstall the opposite direction ;)
mnkyboy
I would be worried about your mechanic, the spartan is probably the easiest locker on the market to install.
Bmoore2
No it's the carrier.... I thought the same thing. The pin from the locker will not go thru the carrier. The stock pin from from the 30 will not go thru the carrier. Yukon carrier will not take the pin. Super frustrated. Well just got some good news.... Machine shop straightened out the lop-sided hole bored in the carrier. Everything is FINALLY COMING TOGETHER!!!!!!! I would be worried about your mechanic, the spartan is probably the easiest locker on the market to install.
89eliminator
your mechanic seems like a hack..... if what he says is true, why wouldn't you or him get a new carrier? i would call the vendor and get one overnighted for free.
Bmoore2
I got 2 carriers from Yukon. Both were the same. The carrier hole was tapped wrong. I was so pissed I went to look for myself. Just an FYI.... Yukon carriers for a dana 30 are not tapped correctly. The hole was oblong and not round. And not even the factory pin would go in. Both pins would fit the factory carrier perfect. My opinion Yukon is junk But it's straightened out now. Machine shop tapped the holes correctly and it's installed. Hope to have my truck back in a few days. Thanks again fellas
mvusse
And what was wrong with the stock Dana carrier?
mnkyboy
And what was wrong with the stock Dana carrier? He is going to 4.56 gears so the stock carrier won't work.
