ComancheKid45
Hey guys, Well Winter will be here before we know it in the northeast and that means itll be time to store "Walker" away in the garage for a few months. Since i do some work in there from time to time I'm gonna get a cover to throw over it to keep the dust and crap off of it. I was wondering if there are any specific covers that would work better for a SWB MJ with a rollbar and lights mounted. I know i can just walk into a chain parts store and probably get something generic but before i do that I was seeing if any of you guys with collector cars or even your MJs themselves reccommend any specific type or brand of covers. Thanks fellas!
Automan2164
I had one that fit pretty tight on a shortbed, and I traded it off to $500MJ for one that was a little big when I needed to cover a longbed. Brent might still have the cover and be able to find the brand. I think he had it on his truck, which has the rollbar, but no lights. Rob
86customanche
Not a bad thought comanchekid. I park my MJ out under the trees most of the year due to driveway space limitations and for awhile I had a tarp over the windshield to stop the rain from getting in. A nice cover would certainly look a little better since it's the first thing you see when you drive up to the house.
Pete M
all I can offer is that the cheap covers don't keep out dust or rain 100%. :( It's worth it for the better ones.
neohic
^ This. Don't cheap out!
ComancheKid45
Yeah i don't figure on going cheap. the truck will still be garage kept this winter so rain/snow won't be an issue but i just want that extra sense of protection from inside elements
knever3
I have a car cover for my Grand Prix GTP from Covercraft. I selected an outside cover that would keep the rain and tree sap off of it. It is suprisingly thin but it has reinforcements for the mirrors so it doesn't tear. It's made of a nylon like a tent so it came with a storage bag. I have washed it in the washing machine after removing it. I actually bought the cover for storage inside but I had a temporary house so I used it outside for a summer into early winter. It also came with a cable lock to string through under the car to lock it on so someone doesn't steal it. It fits PERFECT and doesn't move when the wind blows or storms hit. I would call them to see what they can offer you. Here is the information that can help you from their website: We have over 80,000 listings in our computerized pattern library and add new patterns every week. Check our database and, if the pattern is not currently listed or if the pattern is special, we’ll provide a dimension sheet which is easy to complete (our most popular dimension sheets can be downloaded from our website). The measurements your customer provides will be input in a CAD system that creates the custom pattern for the application. We can accommodate hoodscoops, roll bars, grille guards, winches.... you name it, we’ll custom make the pattern to fit any vehicle. On their website you can select the Comanche short bed with three different styles of mirrors but no roll bar. This you can call about or take some measurements for them. Alexia
Sitting in a garage? I would just toss cheap bed sheets over it.
ComancheKid45
Hmmmm I'm sure that would probably work but for the money and effort i have in this particular truck the peace of mind knowing its under a good cover wouldnt bother me at all.
