I have long since done the CAD fix where the collar is permentaly slid over, BUT just to convince my brother i just wanted to know if anyone has experienced any long term side effects of doing this mod, like. . .

does it wear your front end parts out faster?

are there/have been, any serious risks later on down the road?

T case?

Differential?

U joints?

like i said i did this myself a Long time ago and have not experienced any problems what so ever, but then again i have never made any trips over 50 miles with said truck.

thanks

You may need to replace your front driveshaft u-joints, if 4wd hasn't been used much. They'd just need to be replaced because they've sat in one position not doing much.

Bypassing the CAD just makes the front axle work like they all did after 93 ish anyway.

considering all the 91+ XJs/MJs no longer had the CAD system, and just use 1 solid shaft. That should be enough proof that it cause's no harm ;)

we both had the same thought, but on those newer 4wd systems do you think they use heavier duty hardware, U joints, bearings? or are they just the same and my brother is just being overly cautious?
