offroader461
hey guys i need help.... i have a 1978 El camino that i am trying to sell in order to buy another jeep XJ or preferably and MJ but I'm not to picky...it has alot of work done to it which includes new motor, trans, rear end, tires, rims, autometer guages, carb, exhaust, and fuel pump....and runs great Now i got an offer for a trade straight across from a guy who has a 1986 XJ 4x4 with a 4.3L vortec conversion with edelbrock intake, holley carb, hedders and camshaft installed in the jeep hooked up to a 700r4 and model 20 t-case hooked up with advanced adapters equipement. It broke a timing chain and bent a valve and is missing the radiator and front driveshaft but everything esle is great....also got a 4in lift installed already with stock rims and tires but i have some 33's in my yard.. What u guys think i should do??? Trade or sell my car and wait for a better deal???
warf90
I think I would wait for a better deal or sell yours and buy what you really want.
500 MJ
It would really depend on how nice your ElCo is and how badly you want it gone. If its a show winning ride, no 1986 XJ is worth letting it go on a straight up trade...
88swampedmj
yea i wouldnt trade a running car for a non-running one.. theres a reason it threw that timing chain... and it prolly costs money lol
SlimFisher
I can tell you this much. If your Elky is a nice rust free Arizona car, I would trade you in a second. I love my MJ, but Elky's are by far my favorite. Too bad your not in Ontario.
Mitch
you know what they say about buying other peoples "projects".... Keep the elco and buy a $500 "fixer uper" and take your time with it.
feerocknok
Wow, everyone already said what I was thinking. Your car sounds too nice to trade for a v6 Cherokee with a busted TC.
carnuck
Is your El worth more than $500? That's about what the 4.3 converted XJ is worth with a blown motor. (consider what it costs to replace everything bad and deduct that cost from the value of your car) I'd say if he threw in a good running 4.3 with the deal I "might" think about it. offroader461
yea i was leaning toward no just because my car is in good shape..not showroom condition but i would take it to a car show with a wax job and a cleaning lol Thx for all your input JEEP ON!! 89MJComanche
El Camino is like MJ Comanche. Both are rare. I'd keep the Elcamion or sell it outright. You can get a decent MJ for $1000. El Caminos are so cool though!!
