I would like each of my fellow CC members to give their own opinion about the question below. Do you believe a lifetime dream is worth following regardless of the risk of failure? Now I cannot say what the dream or the desired outcome is because I want to hear what people think without knowing the details. This is mainly to eliminate any bias or judgmental attitudes, ya dig? Essentially I'm looking to hear your thoughts and opinions about it. The most info I can give on this is that some changes would have to take place to take a step in the right direction. Are the risks of taking that chance worth it even if you fail? I'm feeling like its better to have tried and failed then to never even attempt it. Thanks guys

As we say in the fire service industry, Risk nothing to save (gain) nothing, Risk all to save (gain) all.

Do the benefits outweigh the risk?

Sounds like you answered your own question. But you're insecure and want encouragement from others who have no idea what your dream is. Only you can decide what's best for you. Go for it or don't. You don't need others to guide you mate. Sink or swim.

Is this the dream of becoming a Life Guard at a clothing optional beach in Key West?

Life is too short - don't be that old man wishing he had taken the Circus Activities Class at FSU :smart: .

:agree: Sure seems like you answered it yourself. If it's your dream, you and only you can make a final decsion. Our opinions here are strictly only opinions and really don't offer much help since we are not you and don't have your dreams. Take a good long look at what you would be giving up and see if that is worth losing to achieve this dream. Also does that dream outweigh those things you may be giving up. Live life to the fullest.

I personally believe its worth it, and besides, nothing comes without risk, but when its a lifelong dream, those risks seem bigger because, since its been a lifelong dream, theyve been thought of alot more and so are more prominent in your mind. I personally took a big risk back on Valentines day when I swore in to the Navy. I've wanted to be a Navy SEAL ever since second grade, not much risk most would think, but I only get one shot at BUD/s (Prereq for actual SEAL training), and if I fail, well i just committed to 5 years on a boat using paint scrapers and a mop. If you like tedious, horrible "labor", maybe not much of a risk, but I have the itchin to be out in the fray, but if I'm gonna do it, I wanna be the best, so no Army or Marines for me, where I'm guaranteed a job I want. Personally, I think the risk is definately worth it, but, as with BUD/s, if you don't truly want it, don't bother. Do, or do not, if its your lifelong dream, give it your all or nothing.

Just my $0.02

it has been said many times by many people:

At the end of our lives we look back and regret the things we didn't do far more than the things we did.

I remember when I was a kid, all these old farts telling me or just bitching about how they wish they had done this or did that when they were younger. I made up my mind then that I wasn't going to be like that. I have pretty much done what I wanted when I wanted. My only care was to make sure nobody else would get injured in any way by my actions. I flew my first plane and made my first Parachute jump when I was 14. Drove a stock car at the local race track at 15. Been around the world six times and some. My only requirement for going someplace was that I had never been there before. I'm almost 80 now(77) and I have no retirement plan, no portfolio of stocks, lot's of sore, stiff aching joints and some memories I wouldn't trade for anything in this world.

I have to quote Judas Priest on this one:

"You can hang in a left or hang in a right

The choice it is yours to do as you might

The road is open wide to place your bidding

Now, wherever you turn, wherever you go

If you get it wrong, at least you can know

There's miles and miles to put it back together!

And I'm heading out to the highway

I got nothing to lose at all

I'm gonna do it my way"
