Need some help or opinions on what to paint my MJ once it is ready for that phase. I did not include the one poll option I tossed around with friends. Painting it light blue and putting rainbow stripes down the side.(Reference: Rainbow Dash from My Little Pony.)

References for the poll questions.

Inca Gold will look most 'original' and closest to period-correct.

Black clearcoat [non-metallic] with gold emblems would look good as well.

The rest of the color combos belong on 'donks' or whatthehellever those old luxo-barges with enormous chrome wheels found in Florida are called.

If I built another MJ I would paint it Inca Gold so that's my vote.
I agree with Ryan. I'm feeling the Inca gold.

I was originally planning on Rescue Green, but I think someone did that already. :P

What's the original color? That's my vote.

This weird red brown color called Grenadine. I think it looks good on a Grand Wagoneer, but on the Comanche it has faded to a spotty poop brown. Of course, the original color would make it easy to repaint since I could leave the engine compartment alone. :P

Grenadine Red Metallic on the truck after buffing and what it looks like on the majority of the body otherwise. Just went down to do the heavy buff pass quick to see what it looks like with gloss. Though I cut through most of the paint layer to do so!

That's a rare color for an MJ. If it were mine, it would be a no brainer. I'd use it, not only because it looks great, it's original, and the innards will match. A fresh Grenadine red metallic will look super minus the fading common to all our MJs.

I may just do that for the simplicity of the engine swap process. Instead of having to leave the engine and entire interior out for a while to get it painted. I do not half do paint jobs so if it was a color change I would have absolutely everything painted including the inner firewall no one would ever realistically see. Keeping it the original color would let me keep most of the interior in place.(Most of the dash, carpet, seats, and a few other bits.) Plus the engine so it could be driven...

That is so tempting of a short cut.

Black grill insert on the 1997+ header panel, paint matched fender flares, black bumper to match the rear bumper.

Rainbow Dash color scheme would get my vote! One day I'll get an Applejack cutiemark on my MJ.

I did a little mock up of the pastel light blue color. Really does not look that great on a Comanche!
