HO swap

Recommended Posts

I tried searching but couldn't find what I was looking for. Build threads and or any threads related to a Renix to HO swap.

I'm going to be taking that project on. I'm going to be acquiring an XJ for parts, so I'll have to mate the two harnesses.

When I did my Swap from Renix to HO I swapped XJ everything, interior harness and dash as well as underhood harness...

But when using the HO Harness it will not plug into the MJ tail light harness so splicing would be required...

The Second and third time I did the renix to HO swap I just used the under hood harness and swapped it just like I have done a 100 times with CJ and YJ HO conversions which is the easiest way to go...

There is a write up in the DIY on how to adapt a MJ rear harness to the XJ (HO) dash harness. It is best to use all the HO stuff from under the hood and behind the dash. Very few of the HO plugs will plug into the RENIX era switches. I think the only one I was able to use was the ignition and the wiper control.

Also the wiper motor used a different plug and had to be swapped out.

Are you hell-bent on using the HO harness and fuel injection? I've put HO engines into Renix vehicles using the Renix stuff a coupla times. Easy.
