14mpg/16 mpg/ 4.0L/ 3.57 / 31 10.5-15-- 4x4, EGR removed, black jack header, no cat, rusty tb spacer, stock airbox, renix, 4.5" lift

Living in the boonies, 5% country road, 5% city, 90% interstate.

1952 M38, 3sp/4.38?/6.00X16. I have absolutely no idea. All trail running, horse, cow chasing.

1987 MJ, 2.5/4sp/3:55/ 215X15 19-21mpg

1986 MJ, 2.8/5sp/3:55/ 31.5X10.50X15 17-18 mpg

1993 ZJ, 5.7/auto/3:55/ 235X15, 16-18 mpg

1977 J20, 360/4sp/4:11/9:50X16,5, 12 mpg, on a good day.

GF'S 2006 Dodge 1500, 360/auto/265X20, 15-16 mpg

Before: 4.0L, BA 10/5, SOA rear and 6" front on 33/9.50/15s (front diff was in but no transfercase) 3.73 gears 18 mpg mixed city/highway/mountains

 

After: 4.0L, AW4/NP242, the rest the same. Will find out by next month.

2003 TJ Rubicon, 95k miles on motor

16mpg city/12 mpg highway - 4.0/NV3500/241 - 5.13 gears, 35" tires and a Cowl air intake. In town I hardly have to press the gas pedal and on the highway she is spinning at 3k rpm.

 

1992 Comanche, 200k miles

15mpg city/18mpg highway - 4.0/AW4/231 - 3.55 gears and 30" tires. (Before the build)

02 Ford Escape XLT 3.0 4WD No Boundaries - 116,000. NB roof rack, window rainguards, light wing with offroad lights, bug deflector, stock sized Goodyear Silent Armor tires on OEM 16" aluminum wheels. Stock gearing and driveline. Fresh trans fluid, oil, diff oil, transfer case fluid, air filter.

94 LeSabre Custom - 65,000. 100% stock on Pirelli touring tires. 3800 Series 1 V6.

Not tracked, but old calculations is 25 Hwy.

 

87 Comanche base 2.5 2wd SB - 183,000. 3" lift. 4sp 2wd. 2.5 liter inline 4. D35 axle. No A/C. Front bug deflector. Canopy. Studded 235/75R15 on OEM aluminum 10-hole wheels and 2 bags of sand in bed from Nov 1 to Apr 1, touring 235/70R16 on Grand Cherokee Silverstar wheels and no sand all other times. Stock gearing. Fresh oil change, air filter, fuel filter, synthetic gear oil, diff oil.

By not listing things which cause wind resistance or aerodynamic drag (lights, lifts, etc.) or other variables (canopy, high or low rolling resistance tires, heavy or lightweight tires/wheels, old fluids, etc.), just asking engine/trans/gearing isn't going to yield accurate fuel economy results, and in turn the results can vary wildly from one similar vehicle to the next.

most of my driving is highway and backroads, not a lot of stop and go stuff..

 

daily driver: 98 honda civic lx 4 door 1.6 (not a vtec) automatic with 240k miles, completely stock with the original motor and trans (fluid in the trans changed a couple times over the life of the car, my dad drove it from a year old until he gave it to me) and i always change the engine oil at 3k, i use castrol 10w30 in it.. and sitting on 14 in. factory steelie wheels with almost new 185/65 bridgestone insignia tires - gets between 29 and 32 mpg.

 

the truck: 95 chevy K1500 ext. cab, 350 4x4 automatic with a leer fiberglass cap, has a 14 bolt rear (9.5, not the full-floater) from a 3/4 ton suburban with 3.42 gears.. motor has roughly 200k on it, trans has 40k. body has 350k and it shows :shake: . has a 3in. summit racing dual exhaust, 265/75/16 kumho road venture at tires on the factory alloys, and the air cleaner lid flipped upside down for better airflow. oil was changed in the front and rear diffs about a year ago, and i always change the engine oil at 3k, i use 15w40 mobil delvac oil and baldwin filters. gets 12-15 mpgs regularly, and once on a trip from rhode island to maine in august it got close to 18.

 

the mj (when it ran): 88 2wd shortbed 2.5 ax4 d35 3.55 gears with 116k, completely stock except for a set of zj canyons with no-name 225/75/15 street radials. i ran delvac 15w40 in that too, always changed at 3k. got between 18 - 20 mpgs. ive yet to finish the 4.0 4x4 swap so i have no numbers for that.

Some of you guys that changed your gear ratios are getting amazing gas mileage, did you correct your odometer?

 

 

I went from stock tires with 3.07 gears to 33" tires with 3.73 which equals 3.1 ratio. Close enough!

1988 MJ, 4.0/Pukey/2wd 18-20 mostly highway

2004 KJ, 3.7/auto/231 10-13 city

2008 Ram 6.7 Cummins, 13-14 before now 17-23 depending on speed.

 

I find it amusing the biggest, heaviest vehicle that I have, gets the best mileage!
