next generation D44

Recommended Posts

Just so you know the newer D44 are not as strong as the old ones!!!!!!!!! The reason is simple dana cut corners on the tubing and it is a lot thinner there are a bunch of guys here in Florida with almost no rock that have bend them they had to buy new housings at serious $$$$$ .That is the reason I put pre 90 D44 s under my Comanche , just FYI.. 8)

We all know the Rubi D44's are fake, D44 center sections with thin wall tubing and outers similar to D30/35 counterparts. Wonder if the same applies to the JK or if they've beefed 'em up any?

What would you guess?

They're fake. I'd bet money on it.

But, they're also wider. They increased the track slightly for 'stability' - ie; so morons stop rolling them in intersections.

ya the rubicon 44 isnt much more than a glorafied d30 with the exception of the center section which still uses all d44 inerds. but thats why u get it, for the ability to run a gear larger than a 4.88 which is all u can run in ur typical d30 .

There is buku confusion concerning the D30 and D44 in CJ's and Wranglers!! Its now even more so as the new TK axles are different yet again!!

As for the new TK axles. I have only read about the D30 and D35. Both are wider, both are stronger with thicker tubes and larger bearings. I didn't read anything on the D44's.

The D30 got upgraded around 95-96 to D44 sized outers. NOT D44 down graded to D30 parts. A Ruby D44 is a D44 with a slightly weaker case, because of the thinner axle tubes. But it still has the larger 30spl axles, bearings ring and pinion gears. Its also using a different joint. Its slightly stronger than the 760/597 joint it had before and so far it is a ruby exclusive.

The D44 is avalible in at least three stregnths. 1/4 ton for the CJ/Wrangler. A 1/2 ton in Cherokees, Comanches, Fords, Dodge & Chevy. and a 3/4 ton found in FSJ, Ford, Dodge, Chevy.
