1/4 " eliptical setup what do you think??????
rdp001 replied to rdp001's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Thanks for the info ,I think I am going to try it ,and will make pictures and post .I have a way to set up a 4 link onto my 44 s so I will get that done firts and then put the springs on . -
Ok I have completly wasted rear spring on my 88 MJ,just went on a ride with a couple people in Ocala and there was a CJ with this 1/4/" Eliptical set up running around.I have seen some great articulation out of that CJ and I can get my hands on one reasonable. Does anybody have any experience with that setup on an MJ and if so how did it work out!? I would make a four link with it and built a fuel tank for in the bed. any info would be great!

Hornbrod I like your reply ,it is kinda like ....... life sucks then you die    Anyway Ilike the way you say " with a healthy" mine is an 88 with the Renix on it, have been doing nothing but fixing and repairing!!! I know Jeep could have done better then this . :brows:

:brows: SO ANYWAY i HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM YOU HAVE .AND i PUT STRAIT 12V TO MY PUMP(WITH FUSE!!) AND MY MJ NOW RUNS LIKE A Raped ape no more bucking and hesitations ,don t know what everybody else runs but mine runs a lot stronger then with the ballast resistor!
-
the IAC I just replaced ,the MAP I have the testing values in my garage can email them tommorow
-
water in the IAC will kill it it!(idle air control) last time I had it I measured the MAP(manifold absolute Pressure)sensor on the firewall and things came right back to normal!!!
-
8) I have the 8" Skyjacker on mine ,don t know if they still make it but the one thing I can tell you is I crawl just about over everything with 35" tires! It is pricey but complete! incl shocks/brake lines/drive shafts/front center support over the axle/new coils. So like always you get what you pay for .RE is a good product no doubt about it.Just my 2C ;)

 Yes I know what you are talking about, Ijust had the same problem with my 88.mine was the map sensor .I also had a bad connection with the TPS.Fixed the TPS and she wouldn t return to idle ( read running @ 3000 RPM)then put the new MAP sensor on and she idled @550 to 750 then bolted up a new IAC and she ran next to perfect @650/700.I have noticed a lot of wiring problems with the connecters I would suggest that you definitly check those and if you change plugs on anything do not use crimp fittings!!! Those are worthless!!!.Of course I am blessed with the renix system and I think it is worthless. If you have any questions Email me I can probably talk you thru it also . greetings Ron. 8) -
Just so you know the newer D44 are not as strong as the old ones!!!!!!!!! The reason is simple dana cut corners on the tubing and it is a lot thinner there are a bunch of guys here in Florida with almost no rock that have bend them they had to buy new housings at serious $$$$$ .That is the reason I put pre 90 D44 s under my Comanche , just FYI.. 8)

:brows: one word.... awsome pictures of a nice comanche!!!!!!!! I am sure everybody else thinks the same:eek:
-
If you buy Yukon " Thick" 4.88 gears they will fit in the 3.55 carrier housing ,I know this for a fact because I did it . And saved me a bunch of money not having to buy new carrier housings.I am running 44 s under mine and I feel it is the best thing I ever did, strong and not as heavy as a dana 60 . 8)
-
8) thanks 87Manche I read it ,nice write up on that! I have also put the HO manifold on it because I had one so I had only one issue to deal with ....TPS.I think however I have found a way of making things work I will post it when I do.Thanks for the heads up !!! 8)

I will try that for shure ,I still have to wire it up they are still working on my beadlocks, thanks for the info.
-
I have a haynes manual ( miserable) but it helps with the nitty gritty. I havent tried the wiring hookup mentioned by 512TR yet .But that will come tomorrow, today they are putting some beadlocks on it .
-
Wow thanks for the info will try it today and let you know tomorrow. If it is non compatable I will let you know because it will have low/high idle and it will give more then(or lower)voltage.
-
Ok so I changed to a HO intake with the throttle body on my 88 MJ evrything hooks up exept the TPS wiring.Got the new style plug but wire codes (colors)are different I checked the wiring diagrams on the 88 and compared them to the 91 diagram and it doesnt give enough info to hook it up correctly ! Does anybody know how to hook these up? There are only 3 wires but many possibility s. I am running the Renix injection. help would be wonderfull .Local Jeep dealer is a pain they have no clue.
