kyleag89 Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 I need new rotors and pads and I don't want China made junk from advance auto parts. Has anyone bought the Bendix or Raybestos brand from Rockauto before?
terrawombat Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 I have Bendix front rotors and pads on my '01XJ that I bought from RockAuto. The pads came in a Bendix box that said 'Made in USA' on it, but I don't remember looking at the rotor boxes. They seem fine - I'm not driving a sports car so if it stops, good enough for me. The brake dust is annoying though, but a monthly car wash takes care of that.
maddzz1 Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 I just got some Raybestos pads from Rockauto in the mail today.
05mxdiesel Posted March 8, 2011 Posted March 8, 2011 I bought raybestos pads and rotors from jc whitney, it ended up being cheaper than rockauto due to shipping charges.
kyleag89 Posted March 9, 2011 Author Posted March 9, 2011 Rockauto was $115 with shipping, Ill check out JCwhitney. Everytime I buy brakes from advance they glaze over squeak and pulse the pedal. Thanks for the input guys.
sinkrun Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 If you ask advance they may have other options or try napa.
WBKrazy Posted March 9, 2011 Posted March 9, 2011 ive actually been running carquest brake pads and rotors for a while now.... no noise to speak of and they don't throw a lot of dust....
kyleag89 Posted March 10, 2011 Author Posted March 10, 2011 Ok so I am ordering Raybestos from Jc whitney. Would you guys recommend semi metallic pads or ceramic?
05mxdiesel Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 I bought the semi metallic, which are oem replacements, ceramics wear the rotor more but last longer.
mkbruin Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 ive actually been running carquest brake pads and rotors for a while now.... no noise to speak of and they don't throw a lot of dust.... Same here. I usually get the mid-grade semi-metallic from whomever is closest with them in stock. I only had an issue once with a high end NAPA set that jsut wouldn't grip no matter how hard I tried. Swapped to an entry level semi and the issue went away immediately
STERLING STINGER Posted March 10, 2011 Posted March 10, 2011 i thought the ceramics were better cuz they didnt throw any dust???
Dirteatr717 Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 I remember reading on here that one type of pad for the rear swells with condensation and causes the rear tires to lockup easily... I'm pretty sure it's ceramic and I know you guys are talking about fronts... Ive been running duralast pads since last may and theyre quiet and clean and holding up pretty well for my granny driving style and I figured I'd throw my 2 cents in about the rears :wavey:
SouthShore440 Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 Duralast=duracrap i'll never buy it again. Typically I only use bendix but have used raybestos with good results aswell. Rotors I buy what ever is cheap as most are made in china these days
