Dadinator
Old Bumper. Dakota bracket welded to Comanche bracket. Welded brackets mounted inside of bumper. Coat of satin black to help with rust prevention. Done!

RustyRodder
Interesting. Is there any way to adapt the Dakota brackets for those of us that can't weld?
Dadinator
Interesting. Is there any way to adapt the Dakota brackets for those of us that can't weld? Beats me. I can't weld either... :shake: I just got a welder and started to melt stuff together.
buxmj
You have done a lot of stuff to this truck, I had forgotten how much and I just reread a lot of this build again. Great stuff! I said in your mjotm page I will add this to my list of things to look for, I definitely want to find one now...finding one in good shape is going to be tough. Interesting. Is there any way to adapt the Dakota brackets for those of us that can't weld? Beats me. I can't weld either... :shake: I just got a welder and started to melt stuff together. Hilarious!!! Appstate97
How did you make your headliner? I am looking to do something very similar. Currently, I have bare metal and no parts to assist in the reconstruction.
Dadinator
IT is a rubber foam mat I bought and just cut and glued it on with contact cement. It does not like to stick to the roof when the weather gets real hot, though. Not falling off, but bubbles. I plan on redoing it to insulate it from the bare metal roof sometime this year. Minuit
Man, that bumper looks good. Might be just what I need for my '89. How big is the gap between the bumper and the corners of the bed?
Dadinator
Not big at all. Pretty close to the stock rubber pieces. Other than the brackets, it was like it was made for it. It does not fit with the comanche hitch bar though. I have to modify that to fit. It hits the receiver so I'll have to lower the hitch just a bit. Should be an easy fix whenever I get around to it. jeep690
I hate getting to the end of a build thread only to find out that the owner is going to sell. Do what you must though. Good luck! You at least gave me some ideas for my MJ project!
Dadinator
Sold the truck. Friend of the family bought it. New owner has been on this site, but I don't know if he is a member. I will suggest he become one if not.
