No one makes hitches for comanches anymore. The only place to find them is from someone selling one. Depending on where you are I have one for sale in the classifieds.

I am told the junkyard is your only hope for a hitch unless you purchase the Reese universal hitch, which seems to bolt up like factory. Do a search for universal hitch to see users results.

Correct, I had a universal that fit on mine. I posted the part number in another thread. Search for hitch and my username.

Here's one which should bolt directly onto the MJ factory bumper...

My factory bumper is rated at 2000 lbs. I'm considering getting one of these, not so I can tow with my MJ, but so I can purchase one of these...

Don't know how the rust is in your neck of the woods, but I've never owned a michigan MJ with a bumper that would be able to survive even holding up a spare tire. It's just sheetmetal back there. :(

I would be reinforcing/repairing the rusted sections of the bumper in the process.

From what I can see, there is only a small amount of rust in the center of the bumper.

Sorry left that part out ;)

I've been lucky, my MJ was garage kept for 10 years without being driven. Rust is minimal :)

I have a drawtite brand receiver hitch that bolts directly with the stock step bumper for a shortbed.  I'd sell it depending on the price and you pay for shipping
