:agree: 100%. Interesting concept. ASSume you have done a site survey regarding available real estate, cooling, and tranny options and deemed it's doable. Good out of the box stuff. Sounds great to me. jamminz.gif

I just got the car yesterday and actually know very little about Beemers, except they make screamin bikes and the "what's the difference between a porcupine and a BMW?" joke. Lookin for a shop manual and literature now. Saw the car runnin around town a couple times. The PO died while back and I got it from his daughter. Seems he replaced the motor awhile back. Had plans on swapping the trans The current trans is a 8sp auto, I think. The starter was out. Car was up on jack stands where he was replacing it when he died. There is a 6sp manual in the trunk. Rough measurements show it will fit but will be tight. Might have to forego a few things, like heater, A/C or move the under the dash.

Actually that motor is the BMW M70-B50 motor and is only 5.0L. 290HP/330TQ

The 6.0L (N73) was not introduced until 2003.

Tried to ID engine for sure but no tags or anything I could make sense out of. Pulled a plug and seems the stroke is 80mm. Couldn't get a good bore measurement. Gonna stay with 2WD.Got enuff fun without going for 4wd.

It would be very cool to have an MJ with a BMW V12 under the hood.

Having said that, there a lot of other easier motor swaps that would yield more power, fuel economy, and HP to weight ratio.

I understand its a jeep Mj thing.

Go for it :clapping: I love it when people do things that others say can't be done. any engine will go into any other engine bay. you may have to cut bend and cut but so what
