jeeplover88 Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 I'm wondering if anyone would know why my cigarette lighter isn't working. I have checked all of the fuses and they all appear to be fine. I just want to be able to charge my iphone in there. An Ideas? Thanks in advance!
freakjeep93 Posted January 5, 2010 Posted January 5, 2010 the wire might be broken on the back of it or it may just be warn out.
jeeplover88 Posted January 6, 2010 Author Posted January 6, 2010 Yeah. I'm going to rip apart my dash on the weekend and do a check. Good point though.
Pete M Posted January 6, 2010 Posted January 6, 2010 they never worked in any of my trucks. usually the problem stemmed from corrosion inside or behind the lighter itself. I bought heavy duty aftermarket versions from the auto parts store.
dunl Posted January 6, 2010 Posted January 6, 2010 I spent 5 minutes with a brass brush on mine....works like a charm now.
tallon2064 Posted January 6, 2010 Posted January 6, 2010 Mine only works when ignition is on. I put in an accessory outlet direct wired to solve problem
peteco Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 any luck with your lighter? i just found out mine won't charge my gps and replaced it. still no luck. it lights up though//
btm24 Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 It may also be the fuse. That fuse also controls the reverse lights. Mine pops all the time I have a short some where just need to find it. Brandon
johnnyc Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 I hardwired one of these into the Jeep. It's got three outlets and a USB port that's blocked by the shifter.
Dirteatr717 Posted February 3, 2011 Posted February 3, 2011 Before you go ripping anything apart check the iPhone charger wire in another car... Mine stopped working for some reason and I tried my friends in my outlet, it worked fine! Just a heads up
