jeeplover88 Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 Anyone know approximately how much it would cost me to get a 5' or 6' lift, and any good brands to go with? I am looking to put a nice set of 31' or 33' tires on my manche and have decided to go with lift too. Thanks,
Pete M Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 5 or 6 inches is probably too much for 31s. 4" is about as high as I'd go before it starts to look like the tires are too small. and if you're going with 33s, I gotta inquire into which axles you're going with, gear ratio, what type of wheeling you'll want to do, and how much city/highway driving the truck will see. Be prepared. you've opened a big ol' can of worms. :D
BJA814 Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 http://www.roughcountry.com/Jeep_MJ_3in.htm Try a 3" lift and 31's to keep costs down.
mvusse Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 If you really do want to go ~6", be prepared to spend well over $1000 by the time it is all done. $1500 would be a good estimate at the low end, over $2000 for a top of the line set up.
RLCollins Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 On that 3 inch lift for under four hundred dollars. not a bad price. One question that I would have, is about adding to the rear Leaf springs, If I understand what they are saying is - just by adding additional leaves to your springs means you are going to add 3 inches of addtional higth? or are there shackles also? Are the springs still under the axle? what will the ride be like? ROUGH? smooth or what? What's your experience been in doing this? :hmm:
Pete M Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 That's an incredibly bare boned 3 inch "kit". add to that longer lower control arms, longer track bar, longer brake lines, and longer sway bar links. AALs (add-a-leafs) will make the rear leafs stiffer. the longer versions are better than the shorter ones. whether or not that makes them "rough" is up to the driver.
jeeplover88 Posted January 4, 2010 Author Posted January 4, 2010 All I'm looking for is looks and some off-roading in the future. a 3' sounds just about right! Thanks a lot!
jeeplover88 Posted January 4, 2010 Author Posted January 4, 2010 Pete, from what you said on what I would have to add to make it a legit 3' lift, do you have any possible prices for those extras? Thanks,
88mjmanche Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 lower control arms -- 80-120$ track bar --- 90---- 150 sway bar lins --50
Pete M Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 also, be prepared for problems to pop up. lifting a rig changes the geometry of the suspension systems and worn parts or the wrong parts can cause vibrations or steering issues to raise their ugly head.
socal1200r Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 Or just run 31's on stock Jeep rims, WJ lower control arms ($85, http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2-LOWERI ... 2ea9c5f97c). Just another option, one of which I'm sure will be MANY, lol...
jeeplover88 Posted January 4, 2010 Author Posted January 4, 2010 Yeah my dad is an Ex-Mechanic and he has mensioned to me MANY times that lifting my truck or any truck will always come with problems. Thanks for that last option there. I could take that into consideration! Thanks
Pete M Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 yup, a 2" lift can be done with minimal parts and come out ok. brake lines, shocks, etc will still work fine.
88pioneer Posted January 4, 2010 Posted January 4, 2010 Try looking up hell creeks stuff. There a member here an have some good stuff. Thats where i'm buying from
jeeplover88 Posted January 7, 2010 Author Posted January 7, 2010 anyone got any pictures of that 2' lift with 31's?
