I'd rather work in the snow than the rain. Although, they both suck. At least in the snow you can lay on the ground and not get wet (you just freeze to death instead).

man that sounds like that really sucks. worst ive ever experienced (i that i know of) was only a windchill of -7. and that was kinda a freaky year anyway. i like living in the middle of the US, but it still gets to cold in the winter IMHO

HAHA, you think that's cold? I'll drag you up to WI one of these days. Two winters ago, it was so freaking cold for a few weeks, that when it got up to -15 one day, it felt like summer.

Then again, I wear shorts all year long. I think I own two pairs of pants.

true id like to live in bc where you are . ive heared taht it doesnt get as col by the pacific. that and theres awsome mountain smomobiling

I'm normally a long way from the coast. So it does get bloody cold. -40 is normal in a lot of the places I work, and and it will get colder than that (-45 and windddddddddddddddddddddd). But, PG isn't bad, normally it only gets down to -35ish, -40 for a couple days at most, and often it hovers around -10 to -20 for most of the time. The suckers in Vancouver have it easy for the cold, -10 is about the limit, and not much of it at that, but it rains all the time. Victoria and the southern parts of the island is best.

Like I said, I'd rather it snowed than rained. If it sits about -10 or colder, you won't get wet if you have half decent clothes. If you get wet, it's nasty. Probably the worst night of my life was doing an inspection on a helicopter (all night) in the coast mountains, it was fall and it hadn't gotten cold yet. Actually, it was probably the first snow fall of the year. Of course, it rained for about 3 hours before it turned to snow, so we were soaked long before the temperature went below freezing. Then we continued to slog it out in soaking gear and heavy snow fall. The next day was great, above freezing, no rain or snow, but the inspection was due the night before

I'm from PEI, and I live in Alberta. Gets damm cold here, but it is a dry cold. Drove to work on Tuesday and it was -42 Celcius....PLUS whatever the wind chill factor was.

On the other hand, -25 Celcius in PEI FEELS colder than -42, due to the humidity in the air out there. My wife is from Alberta, and we met at university out east. She'd come home to Alberta at Christmas and run around in a spring jacket after being acclimatized to the weather out east.

wow! -72, -25, -40... now i feel bad complaining about it being 9 out :rotf:

That's okay. Like Dirty Comanche stated, I'd rather be clothed warmly, lying on my back on the snow working on a rig, than on wet ground.

Only thing is that plastic parts like to snap....all necessary Canuck parts should be 100% metal instead of plastic. ;)

Those crazy Canadians are talking in Celsius so it's not quite as bad as it sounds, but -40 Celsius is also -40 Fahrenheit...so that's cold! Can't say I believe that -72 figure considering the coldest temperature ever recorded in New Zealand was -22 degrees Celsius...

One thing I'll never understand about this weather are the people that truly enjoy it. I can easily tolerate it if I have enough layers, but do I like it? HELL NO! When the cold weather rolls around, I'm basically stuck inside of my heated home. Ironically, the two sports I'm actively involved in (ice hockey and skiing) require it to be cold. I am weird though and I'm sure my room mates hate it, but I am not a fan of air conditioning. I love being out in 100 degree weather, 100% humidity. I'll even sleep in it too - doesn't bother me one bit, but working on a farm all my life, I was forced into being accustomed to it!

I'd rather live in an area like Florida where it's warm all year round and if I'll take a vacation up north to get in my skiing fix.

You know he's talking about Greenland, right? Only named so to encourage Vikings to settle there during the Medieval Warming Period?

Whoops - misread that! Yea, I can believe it was that cold in Greenland, then ;)

I only mentioned Greenland and Israel-Egypt because those were the most extreme, and so close together timewise weather changes I experienced. I've also lived-worked in Colorado, my home, Kansas, Raton, Los Alamos, Las Cruces, New Mexico,Blaine Wa, North Bend Or, Bangor Me, Madison Wi, San Jose Ca, Sumter, SC, Ft Bragg, NC, Ft Campbell, Ky. Ft Benning, Ga. Max Creek, Mo. Itazuki, Japan, Some God awful place in Korea, Elizondo, Spain, Kwajalien, Marshall Islands, Rio De Janeiro, SA, Near Alice Rock, Australia. DaNang, VietNam,Some were better than others,Some I'd just as soon never see again. And they all had weather of some kind.If I had a motorcycle I enjoyed it. If I didn't I tolerated it. Some of them had Jeeps. Some didn't. Had to mention something to do with the forum.
