ham radio, not the meat...although it can be tasty. i'm going to be getting my license as soon as i can get some time to start taking the tests, and just want to see if anyone on here has their license? i already have a nice base station (ten-tech model 562 with model 962 external amp/speaker and shure mic) and a 2 meter unit for my truck (radioshack brand), just need to set up some antennas once i'm legal to operate.

How about an ex-ham

I had a Novice License in 1988 (when I was 14), I think it expired in 1998 and I never renewed...Don't tell the FCC, but I had some help with the Morse Code part of my test (not sure if that's still a requirement or not)

KB0DBS if I remember correctly...

Yup.. I've had my license for about 15 years or so...

Wade 2... they dropped the code requirement for any license about 2 years ago now.

I would have thought you got yours later than that with a KB call though. I got my ticket in 95, and I have a KB call.

KZ4DNA here. :waving: I didn't care for the call sign that the FCC issued me, so I got a "vanity sign".

Right now, I just have a slightly "modified" Yaesu VX-6R handheld. I want to get a mobile unit in the MJ in the future. Maybe the Yaesu 8800.

KA9YJH, license is current but I have not been on the air for many years. I was active on 2meters but found too many "clicks" that would only talk to one of there own.

I have a bunch of radios to sell from my grandfather. no one in the family currently is a ham or has interest or time to devote. he was a ham since returning form WWII...

I don't know much about it. I have a couple of the radios here researching the values online.

ICOM, IC-761, IC-229H, and IC290H, I also have a Kenwood TR-7950. SO MUCH more, this is just what I could carry out the other-day. Cables, wires, antennas hanging everywhere in the basement!!! MANY more radios as well as a couple handhelds I have not located yet.

Its all going up for sale soon. If anyone can offer any advice please post up!!

i might be interested in the ic229h, the ic290h, the kenwood tr7950, and/or some of the antenna/cable set ups once you start selling. someone on eham mentioned $50 being about what that kenwood fetches.

nothing like getting free stuff to kick of another expensive hobby :D the two radios i have were basically free...thrown in as part of a trade.
