88mjmanche Posted October 21, 2009 Posted October 21, 2009 i just did the manifold on my 88 chief. and that is such a pain in the a hole is it just me or did you guys have a hard time with this too??????
sinkrun Posted October 21, 2009 Posted October 21, 2009 Mine was very simple only took about 1/2 hour of course my motor was out sitting on a stand :D can't imagine doing it in the truck.
dfreeman616 Posted October 21, 2009 Posted October 21, 2009 i've done worse...but it's not my favorite job to do, either.
johnnyc Posted October 21, 2009 Posted October 21, 2009 It's just like anything else. First time was a nightmare. But I've done quite a few since and it gets much easier. And yes, it's much easier to do it on the bench. :D
88mjmanche Posted October 22, 2009 Author Posted October 22, 2009 yea you need hands of a 10 year old chinese boy
Geonovast Posted October 22, 2009 Posted October 22, 2009 Done it a couple times, not fun at all. Easy as freaking pie on a stand. 4cyls aren't bad.
Oizarod115 Posted October 22, 2009 Posted October 22, 2009 mine wasn't bad at all, just removing the egr tube is the hard part, gotta do that first. other than that a 14 wrench, and a handful of wobble extensions are the tools to have
JeepcoMJ Posted October 22, 2009 Posted October 22, 2009 *shrug*. hands need to be small but a ratcheting wrench helps...especially when you make an extension tool for it (using a closed wrench doesn't work too well in that tight of a spot). I take them off with the intake intact, reinstall seperate of each other...easier, and you should be replacing the intake/exhaust manifold gasket every time.
terrawombat Posted October 22, 2009 Posted October 22, 2009 Intake is easy - two external torx bolts on the top of the bellhousing are much more fun with the engine/trans in the truck :)
KYMJ Posted October 22, 2009 Posted October 22, 2009 Not bad, the 2nd one I did, did the egr tube didn't fit properly and caused me fits. The later models, like on my grand Cherokee are pretty easy.
