SuperWade2
One of them isn't that it's not a MJ, because it's my TJ, and this is Pub and not tech... I'll give you one hint beyond the obvious, and a little hard to see in the pic...the axle tube is smiling a litte bit... I'm thinking a couple options... $ - Get a cheap Lo Pinion D30 swap my 30Spline Chromo Shafts and ARB Locker into that... maybe truss it to try to prevent future bendys, replace Tie-Rod $$$ - Sell the Shafts/Gears/Locker - Buy a Dana44 Front end and regear add locker, etc $$$$ - Pull the Shafts and Locker, Install into my MJ (Would have to get reverse cut R&P, but would the same ARB Locker work, I think so), Buy a Dana44 Front end and regear add locker, etc $$$$$$$ - Buy a DynaTrack Pro-Rock 60 Hi Pinion and call it a day (and then either sell or MJ the stuff in it now)

I can give you a good disconnect cover without vacuum motor as well. this would be superior to a non-disco 30 as it is a stronger pass. side UCA mount and can be trussed just the same -Pat
Pete M
Is that a roller fairlead with synthetic rope? I thought that was a big no-no?
SuperWade2
Is that a roller fairlead with synthetic rope? I thought that was a big no-no? Only if it's used and beat up from running steel line... I pulled the wire off and installed the synthetic day 1 and make sure there are no rough spots on the rollers...they make replacements out of Derlin (sp), that I could replace the rollers with, but mine are still in good shape and keep my eye when doing any pulls off center... SuperWade2
While maybe my usage was "excessive", the Currie Tie Rod didn't hold up as well as I had hoped... Although you can't see it, I also tweaked both of a my front fenders a little bit from the hard stuff (or landing, I'm not 100% sure)... Crap I hope not, bumper costs more than a replacement axle... But yah, it's a little camera goofy, but I think the impact was all below the bumper... I'll try to get a better pic tomorrow... sw2

SuperWade2
question is, did you have fun jumping it? :needpics: :brows: Hard to get pics when I'm 6' in the Air, in the rig.... I don't think any of the people I was with got pics of the "big hit" But I had a great time all weekend... I had already tweaked the tie rod a little bit on Saturday, so I said "f' It" and hit one big hill a little faster than I should have (about 50)...that's the one that bent the tie rod more, bent the axle tubes and tweaked both my front fenders (just a little). Can anyone tell me what years XJ's had Low vs Hi Pinon and if I'm going to need to change the coil buckets or shock/control arm mounts to get it on my TJ? I have a guy in the club that said he's got a pile of housings, mostly from XJ's that I could take whatever I want for free. Wade
WahooSteeler
Yeah, just having fun with ya Wade! I figured if you had any pics of the manned space flight you would have posted those as the "before" shot. :brows: You got nads jumping a TJ, especially at 50! Not exactly a balanced vehicle for flight LOL. Cool...so the guy I'm going to go see has mostly stuff pre-99 I think (but post vacuum disco, like 93-95ish), so I think his will be Hi Pinion...so like Pat suggested, I could get a new Reverse R&P and "upgrade" my stuff from the Lo to Hi and try to find (or get someone to make me) a truss

Eagle
Actually, I think the XJ stayed with the high pinion through 1999, and went to low pinion beginning in 2000.
mfpdm
I'd say, if you plan on doing any more Dukes of Hazzard stunts, go with the 60. And don't forget to add a Dixie horn for when you jump.

JeepcoMJ
confirming that xj/tj coil buckets and CA mounts are the same. I could build you a truss, or at least cut out a template for you as well. you'll want it professionally welded on if you have no experience with welding to cast. There are guys in my club with Welders/Experience that I could goto for help... I was looking at some of the "pre-fab" Trusses out there by a few vendors and some get pretty $$$ I'm still trying to decide if I want to go "Cheap" and get a Lo Pinion TJ Axle and not have to switch R/P, or get the Free Hi Pinion Axle and spend the $$$ on the new R&P... I think I should probably truss either way... And will obviously need a new tie rod as well... Wade
