Optima yellow tops?

Recommended Posts

is there an optima yellow top that will work with my 86? i like to use my truck as a sort of outdoors radio since i have an xplod in it. but on the optma site they say none of their batteries will fit. i was looking and i think the D34/78 or D34 would work. but will my alt handle it? i need a new alt soon anyways so is there a heavy duty alt that will work with the D34/78 or D34 yellow top? here is the yellow tops spec sheet:

Are u going with the dual purpose (deep cycle and starting) Yellow Top ?

I hope so, that's the only way to go. I have the bluetop (D34M) and love it.

The reason i mention it is that i think Optima has recently added the DP Yellow top to their line and am just making sure ppl are aware of this.

I also have a Blue top, won't buy any other (brand that is) IMO  !

i don't see why it wouldn't fit as a 34 series battery is the MJ calls for. my wifes Zj has the same battery.

yea i know i was thinking that too. i even went and measured and it matched up. but for the mjs on the site if you do the battery match thing they say they don't make one for it. who knows.

yes i am going the the duel purp yellow top. i need something that i don't have to worry about as much if i am only listening to music.

You will need to change your battery tray out for one for a 4.0. Yes your alt will be able to handle it. Just ask Jeff he has one of my old Yellow tops in his rig

I did have to swap out the battery tray with one from a 4.0L XJ....the battery was too wide for the 2.5 one, and the J-bolts were too short.
