HOrnbrod
the rears are inboard to help with turning, it helps the rear track inside the front and tighten up the radius, but I doubt if you will notice too much of a difference. Weird. I had an 01 XJ I bought new, and the wheels were equally spaced in the wheel wells. So the rears being more inboard than the fronts is an MJ thing? Mine's a LWB; is it same thing w. the SWB MJs? :hmm:
Pete M
I believe the bed of the MJ is wider than the rear of an XJ.

HOrnbrod
Hmmmm. Guess I just never noticed it before. I've had a couple of GM S10s and a full size C10, but never saw it. It's real obvious w. MJs I guess because of the flares and the bed width. Well, IB fixin' that soon......... I just eyeballed my 91 FSM. Every 2WD/4WD 91 MJ, XJ, and YJ has equal track measurements (distance between the L/R wheels) front and rear, except the Grand Wagoneer SJ, which is about 2" narrower in the rear. jtdesigns
Ever seen an old ford or chevy dog track down the road. I think most of those trucks do it. Looks like the arse end is going to swing around the front.
HOrnbrod
Well sure, but that's usually because the toe adjustment is out. Have seen it on plenty of non-trucks too. I guess this was amplified in the older vehicles because the rear track was usually narrower than the front.

Looks like the arse end is going to swing around the front. Alot of times...this happens when the frames been bent in a prior accident....but sometimes....when people lift their trucks....and then they don't get their rear blocks seated all the way down onto the rearend's pin/bolt this can/will make em dogtrack too! I've also seen springs in a bind to such a degree that when I loosened up the u bolts...the whole rear end shifted several inches!....
WahooSteeler
OK Don, I have been waiting patiently but it's time to show the goods. You ordered Dec. 19th, so you gotta have them buy now I'd guess. If so, :needpics:
mvusse
According to the tracking number, my 1.25" spacers arrived today. But I'm 350 miles away from home at the moment...

You ordered Dec. 19th, so you gotta have them buy now I'd guess. I have been waiting too, but not patiently. The bastids just sent me the UPS tracking number TODAY after several emails and phone calls listening to their whining about how busy they are during the holidays. I don't recommend these guys: http://www.4x4groupbuy.com
WahooSteeler
Maybe the site name says it all, they don't order until they have enough requests for products to get a "group buy". Hmmm, sounds lame for sure. We'll be waiting sir.
shelbyluvv
Wasn't there a thread on JU not to long ago about them going out of business? I hope I am mistaken, but I remember reading that somewhere.
HOrnbrod
http://www.4x4groupbuy.com/store is very much in business; but http://www.groupbuy.com went belly up. Maybe this is the outfit you're thinking of. The SpiderTrax WS-002 spacers are their 5th best seller, they were out of stock, so they had to refer the order directly to the mfg. in CO. According to them, SpiderTrax dropped the ball. Anyhow, it's not like my truck is down because of it........
shelbyluvv
You sir are correct! I knew I seen that a "groupbuy" went under. Glad to hear it wasn't the one you were using!
HOrnbrod
OK Don, I have been waiting patiently but it's time to show the goods. You ordered Dec. 19th, so you gotta have them buy now I'd guess. The WHS-002 Spidertrax 1.25" spacers finally arrived and I slapped them on. Excellent product. They are hubcentric and fit perfectly. They even come with Locktite. I was a bit concerned about the spacer stud length because I had to install longer studs in my axels before to make up for the rear disk brake backing plate thickness, but the spacer studs are actually 1/4" longer and gave me twice the lug nut engagement that I had before. My rear wheels are now moved out almost the same in the flare as the front; would have 1.50" spacers to make it perfect, but these will do. Will take some pics tomorrow if it ever stops raining here. Many thanks to SW2 for his assistance.
WahooSteeler
Damn, I've been away for a little while and thought for sure you'd have some pics up by now Don! :dunno:
HOrnbrod
AAARG, forgot. Really nothing to see though except the rear track is wider now and the tire edges are equal in the flares. Seems to be better in the corners too. Regarding the flares, I parked next to a stock 95 XJ the other day and the difference in the front flares was very obvious. They are wider in the front than the 1994 and below flares, and should protect the body a little better. I think someone mentioned this before in a different thread, maybe TNT? Was it you Tim? If I run across a nice set I'll get them.

I spoke with a buddy who had (sorry, HAD- he sold it last week) an XJ and he ordered a set of spacers on eBay that were identical to the spidertrax except for not being blue. I will try to get the info. He also had a set of spidertrax, and said that the sets were functionally identical.

phenryiv1
got all excited for pics when i got an email for a new post to this thread. No pics, but I did some research and found that if you search for "jeep wheel spacers centric " on eBay, you do get several listings for 1.25" and 1.5" hubcentric 5 on 4.5" spacers with grade 8 hardware. HOrnbrod
Okay, here's the best I could do mainly because I lacked a good BEFORE pic. BEFORE REAR SPACERS AFTER REAR SPACERS Even so it's pretty easy to see the difference I think.
Pete M
Looks good. Adding 14" wide tires balanced out the back of mine. :D
WahooSteeler
Ha Ha, attaboy Don! About damn time! Amazing what only 1.25" will do. To be women weren't as easily satisfied! Seriously though, I think that it looks fantastic and definitely gives it a more balanced look. I will be following that mod by this summer for sure. Oh, and while I'm not a Sox fan, the plates look great too! A truck like that needs vanity plates of some sort. Mine just came in about 2 weeks ago, I'll get a picture up. :brows:
