  1. Cool....Couldn't remember how long the 5 speed XJ shafts were and forgot to look yesterday when I was up at the house..LOL. I'll probably just sell the driveshaft to a buddy with an XJ...or someone online or something then. If I decide to keep this MJ after I lift it...I'll probably be throwing a different rear axle in it anyways and from what I've owned and read in the past...you usually never have to put a SYE on a Comanche...unless you're goin BIG...BIG...or have alot of issues with your current setup or something. Thanks
  2. Nothing special....just getting ready to do some more work on my 87 MJ...4x4...4.0...AW4...np231..d30/d35...for now....long bed. SPOA on the rear and getting ready to put my RE 4-1/2'' coils and lower control arms on the front. Basically I'm gonna part out my red 88 xj....it's got 4-1/2'' RE coils on the front...and some kind of aftermarket extended lower control arms....the back of the xj has full 4'' or full 6'' springs...can't remember which...LOL. Red XJ has a SYE and a tom woods driveshaft on it.....it's gotta 5 speed in it...tho..so not sure about the lengths compared to the one in my MJ. I'm probably gonna steal the front skid and transfer case skid as well. I'm also putting the doors and hood off of my red xj on it....lebaron vents on the hood.....doors are just in better shape. Here's some before pics....with 31'' all terrains on it.... and now with my 31''x12.50....Super Swamper TSL-SX's on 15''x10'' cragar streetlocks on it.......also..gonna finish out my bumpers with some d-rings and some diamond plate to box them in somewhat and a little bit more bracing on the outers. I have a homemade roof rack off of my white xj that I'm going to cut down and powdercoat and mount it on the top of the Comanche or in the bed...if in the bed I'm also going to mount my spare that matches the wheels and tires that are on it now.
  3. Alot of times...this happens when the frames been bent in a prior accident....but sometimes....when people lift their trucks....and then they don't get their rear blocks seated all the way down onto the rearend's pin/bolt this can/will make em dogtrack too! I've also seen springs in a bind to such a degree that when I loosened up the u bolts...the whole rear end shifted several inches!....
  4. Might be a problem with ur individual truck...my 04 HD 2500 Duramax 4x4 has had ZERO issues. Plus...it's awesome to change an air intake...exhaust and programmer and be pushin 650 + HP and 900 + FT./LBS TQ ! MY best mpg is at around 63 mph...23 mpg! It decreases a lil bit when I'm playing with the programmer tho! Duramax/ALLY combo has had the 100k mile warranty since it's inception in 01....which is a bonus as well. I hope you get your issues resolved....I've had Chevy Trucks....HD's...for my last 4 trucks and haven't had any issues. Good Luck. You get bad seeds with every brand nowadays....tho...I've heard all the horror stories with every make and model. It usually boils down to whether or not you have a good dealership and even a good salesman can help you push things through. I'd be looking for a new dealer and salesman if I was you. It also helps to know the parts/service managers too
  5. Getting ready to do this same swap myself and was wondering if anyone had any specs on the difference in U joints....driveshaft lengths.....spring perch specs/dimensions....etc.? Mine's goin from an 87 xj 2 door automatic..(Dana 44)...into an 87 mj automatic longbed....(Dana 35). I also have a tom woods shaft out of an 88 xj 4 door...5 speed rig and would like to use it if possible in my comanche build. THANKS guys.....sorry to hijack but at least it's on topic!!!... :D
