The worlds Fastest Comanche

Recommended Posts

WFC,

I am new to the forums and just read thru your threads. I am 30 minutes from Salt Lake City, too bad I missed you but it sounds like you had no time for visitors anyhow. I would like to be there when you make the run next year. Hopefully I can keep up with your status on this thread?

We are going, Speed week starts Aug 14 2010 That is a Saturday, but the cars start rolling in on Thursday for tech. Racing starts Saturday morning. You are probably close enough to drive back and forth, but if you want to stay in a hotel, the Casinos in Wendover start taking reservations March 1st 2010. Rooms are not cheap. You can geta a room Friday Night at the Best Western in Wendover UT for $160.00 right now. They are totally booked for speed week though.

Ok here is a link on this site for all of you who don't want to log on to the Stroker site

But it still is not a bad idea to look around the stroker site. I think it's a good idea to put a 270 hp stroker in an MJ, A stroker costs about the same as a rebuilt engine. The Comanche club site is great, but it is a little light on big performance upgrades.

You are correct, 175 is slow for that class, He is in the 350cid class and the current record is 210.473 It probably takes double the HP to go from 175 to 210, so he gave up and decided to drag race the truck. This is a bad class because you can run the 360 cid nascar motors in it. You can't really got more high performance than that.

I found an article last night on the 1990 cyclone truck. It had a version of the chevy 4.3 bored and stroked to 5.0L it put out 563 hp @ 8000 rpm It had a allot of trick stuff on it. that truck went 210.469 mph

we did make it to Bonneville, we did 4 runs, the best was 155 mph and change. We did not have the right gear . the altitude and the rolling resistance of the salt really hurt the performance. The air density was aroulf the 7,000 ft level. with a gear change we would probably run 165 or so, but the record is at 173. The guy who owns it rund a bored and stroked chevy 4.3 with Brodix heads and intake. The heads just flow so much better than a jeep head. I do have some work to do before next year. I did send an Email to 505 performance asking if i could borrow their 690 hp turbo motor that was written up in JP magazine. We will have to see if that goes anywhere.

The good news is that now i can actually say that i have the worlds fastest production Comanche. The Lakeview Curiser is faster, but it has a chevy V8 in it and therefore it is no longer considered a production truck.

The great news is that the truck performed flawlessly, everything worked as it should, we didn't break anything. A few more HP was all we really needed.
