  1. Hi Everyone, I’m trying to get my cruise control working again. I just bought my first Comanche in Nov. 19. I have done all the electrical tests and it seems like everything checks out ok. Then I noticed that my servo is missing a vacuum line. I cannot find the line. Could someone please upload a photo that shows where the smaller vacuum line originates? I have an 89 4.0. Here is a pic of my truck along with a close up of my servo as well as another photo that I sourced from Comanche Club showing the smaller vacuum line in question.
  2. Ok, I managed to get my hands on some suitable replacement for the vacuum line in the first picture. It connects in the engine bay to the vacuum solenoid in the second picture. Where the heck does it go in the cab? I've got the dash apart, I had assumed (incorrectly) that it attached to the A/C controls but can't find the other end of that sucker anywhere. Any ideas? (Pictures greatly appreciated!!!) Sent from my SM-G930T using Tapatalk
  3. My Comanche is a 1986 with a 2.5L. My vacuum reservoir is broken; it has a couple of large holes in it. I can not find a replacement to it, the mopar part number i found is: J3232991. But I cannot find it anywhere. The new replacement reservoir's I have found only fit 1991 and up models. Can someone tell me if these will also work on mine? They seem to have only one connection to them while my factory reservoir has two lines running to it but has two connections on each side of the reservoir. And of course by air in the vehicle is only blowing through my defrost vents and I am sure the broken reservoir is the cause.
  4. This issue is on a 1990 MJ 4.0 l6 automatic with just under 165k miles. I went to do my emissions test today for Colorado and the truck failed due to high NOx levels. After researching what causes high NOx levels I found that the EGR is supposed to reduce them and that may be my problem. Upon inspection of my vehicle I noticed that my EGR valve is not hooked up to any vacuum lines, the solenoid is no where to be found and most of my vacuum lines appear to be misplaced or missing. I was using the diagram on the firewall for reference on how the lines are supposed to be run. Has anyone else run into this with their Comanche? Where would I start to try to restore the vacuum system to its original state? I included a crude drawing I did to illustrate how the vacuum lines are currently run in the truck. I would greatly appreciate any help I can get. Thank you in advance. This is the diagram on the firewall. This is my illustration of how the vacuum hoses are currently connected I have a few more photos, here is a link to the slide show of all the photos I have: I can take more of specific parts if need be. Thank you again!
  5. Hi, I have 1988 jeep comanche pioneer with a straight six and has a 5 speed manual. Currently I'm having over heating problems a lot of the lines for the radiator are cracked, brittle or broke right off. I'm wondering if anyone has some diagrams for the radiator and vacuum setup. Oh yeah, would really low oil cause the motor to over heat after starting up and driving a mile?
  6. Did a search but nothing came up... I've really only worked on or owned long enough to know 2.5l 86s (4x4 ax4/ax5) before I got myself an 87 4.0l. automatic 4x4...... Now I am totally lost. I noticed the rear driveshaft on my 86s is almost twice as thick as the 87's. What othe differnces are there between them? We found one of three vacuum lines that seem to go to the t-body/intake-manifold via a U shaped hard plastic hose isnt connected to anything and I don't know whats missing here as it is definitely sucking (and hissing). The other lines are attached. Does anyone have a list of what lines/components are supposed to be attached to the t-body vacuums? I followed one larger white hose from the junction clip that is just infront of the tbody to the airbox and engine, the other is a smaller black hose that snakes under the air box - brake booster? Which gauge cluster is supposed to be in an 87? The blue or the black/red? Its obvious someone swapped them at one point since the odometer is meddled with and the temp/oil dials don't work. Also the scratches from the tinsnips used to cut out the gear selector panel are obvious. Good effort though. Some genious removed the CAT - is it necessary for function? I am e-test exempt and have no intentions of driving to california. What is the function of the transmission button on the dash that says power/comfort?
  7. My new to me 2.5 liter 5 speed 1986 (edited, sorry, not an 85) Comanche X won't go into 4 wheel drive. The are no noises from the Transfer case, it does engage low range, but does not drive the front wheels. A couple times I got a neutral in 4 low, but other times it engages low but does not drive the front axle. There is no indication in the dash as to if it is in four wheel drive. I assume the indicator would be on the right light cluster where the up shift light is. I have read a bit about the vacuum lines having something to do with engaging the front axle. I have searched this forum and else where and have not found a good guide on the subject. I have not figured out if I have an NP 231 or NV 231 transfer case, or what the difference is.
  8. I inherited an 86 jeep comanche with a 2.5 tbi. It was mid project and has no vacuum lines. I have this vacuum diagram and I'm slowly measuring fitting/nozzle sizes to get the vacuum tube diameters but I'm having a problem when it comes to the egr system. Does anyone have a picture or a good description of the EGR/Canister Solenoid? Also do i need to install the vacuum tubes for the air conditioning or do I just need the tubes shown on the diagram? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  9. There are two vacuum lines that run from the heater control through the firewall (above the heater core and AC evaporator connections). One is black and goes to a vacuum connection beside the relay assembly on the right fender well. I assume this line continues to the vacuum reservoir behind the front bumper. The other vacuum line is purple (inside the cab), but mine is bleached out to a pinkish/whitish color in the engine bay. This line pulled loose while I was removing the heater box and I don't know where it is supposed to be connected. It has a short section of vacuum hose on the end which I'm assuming is to connect to another vacuum line but I can't find a loose line on the right side of the engine bay. Does anyone know where this line connects? No photos as I have to re-learn Photobucket upload/download/attachment again. It's been said that the mind is the first thing to go and I believe the short term memory is the leader in that parade!
