  1. Lately I’ve been taking after my father jpnjim and learning all I can about Comanches, I’ve been to this forum multiple times over the past few years and just recently decided to join and post. If you are not familiar with this truck I’ll tell you about it. Its a 1989 pioneer short bed 2wd and column shift auto and the bulletproof 4.0 it is a manual window, no ac, low option low mileage truck currently having about 53k miles. The interior is nearly perfect and the exterior just needs a little work to be spot on. It’s a great truck. My dad had put on 97+ mirrors, a bed liner, and a tonneau cover along with the non idiot light gauge pack. Also adding a metric ton leaf setup in the back and some sagged 3” coils on the front and some 29” snow tires to make it movable in the snow up here. I proceeded to sometime around last year bring the truck out of its parking spot where it was for a few years, and get it ready for when I got my license. I washed, polished, and cleaned it up just in time to get my license. And recently I’ve started modifying by removing the bed liner and putting on the oldstyle mirrors along with painting the inside of the bed. Below I’ll post some before and after shots. Edit: 2023 For better cover Photo Page 1: Cb Radio, Fire extinguisher, Journey to Chrome Page 2: 21slot, Air horn, Limited seats, Visor Page 3: Enclosed Trailer, Chrome Ravines Page 4: Page 5: Page 6:
  2. Hey all, Trying to find inspiration for my first comanche I just picked up. Waited too long to finally nab my dream vehicle. It's a faded black sportruck and I'm curious how it would look with a chrome grill, exterior bezels, handles, sideview mirrors etc. Probably will keep the black front bumper. Any threads dedicated to this or y'all got photos with similar looks? My '88 attached as reference (please excuse the clear corner lenses, that's the FIRST thing to go).
  3. I've owned this Comanche for almost 30 years now. It has 330k miles and still running strong. after years of use and sitting in the sun, it seen better days. It got to a point where my wife would not ride in it anymore and was bugging me to sell it on a routine basis. I then decided to improve the looks by installing a few bolt ons with a simple paint job. It came out better than expected. The wife will actually ride in the jeep again. Next will be the motor. I will give details of some of the work done soon. Hope you enjoy the pics.
  4. I have been putting this off for a long time but have a lot of free time today so I'll go ahead and post this up. I got my truck in the summer of 2011. She is a 1989 Comanche Pioneer,4.0, 2wd, d35, auto on the column, with about 280000 miles on it. I really am just guessing about that mileage because the guy I bought it from at a pseudo car lot, really it was just a garage with cars out front, said the gauge cluster had been replaced and it actually had 140k miles on it rather than the near 240k the clock was showing. I was inclined to believe him because it ran very well, but then I realized ho hard it would have been to find a cluster with the shift indicator installed and other factors so I think the guy was full of sh*t. Back to the main event.... I've had the truck ever since and have done numerous things to it such as: New hoses Alternator Radiator Grill Fogs Temp gauge Bumper Tailgate Recovered seat Valve cover Wrecked it Replaced sheet metal after wreck 97+ nose New bed Head gasket Paint Numerous oil changes and plugs etc Open cooling system conversion Added an inverter Horns Power windows/locks Jeepsticker decals Remote start, with remote locks And a bunch of other stuff I know I'm forgetting. It has always been fun but I have had a few stumbles along the way. Hopefully the next post with all the pigs will paint a better picture that this one.
