So i'll start a build thread for my recently acquired Comanche! Bought a ticket from Denver to Phoenix to pick this up and drive it back. Pretty much love at first sight! It has a full 98 conversion. 4.0 with 110k, AW4, NP242, limited slip Dana 35, 3" lift (I think). All of this was done by the previous owner. Driving back was a breeze (except for the AC compressor clutch exploding in Phoenix). This is the first pic I took in it's new natural habitat in the forest of Colorado!- 93 replies

This isn't really a build thread so much as a journal. I posted up as many of the old pictures I've got from over the years. Its been a great little truck and has many memories attached to it. TDi swap, frame stiffening stuff begins on page 5, three-link stuff begins on page 6. Keep in mind that I am updating this thread as I progress. Got her in October of '07 from another CC member: KYMJ A nice, rust-free, 4x4 MJ with all the right stuff for a good price. Had to jump on it!

Redoing my thread that i deleted before the photobucket fiasco. I bought this in 2011. Me and a buddy drove 6 hrs one way and I was so stoked I bought it without really looking at it. Shortly after the newness wore off I began finding how poorly it was built by the previous owner. My first trip out I went into bumper deep water, then discover the floor had many pinholes from rust, it would be a year before I tackled that then it mostly sat for a couple years since I was burnt out on working on it. It came 97+ hoakey-a$$ swapped with what I was told a 99 xj 4.0 that turns out to be held in place with a tj motor mount bracket with 1 bolt on the passanger side. After trying brown dog off roads motor bracket kit and it not fitting, I contacted them and they asked for the block number. Heard back shortly after and was informed it was a wj motor, and they had luckily made 2 wj/xj kits prior and hooked me up free of charge and donated the kit that didn't fit to wounded for warriors. Front axle was a d30 with power tax and teraflex steering I believe. Rear was a 8.8 with 4.10s on 35s and that was a dog.. I immediately put on some 33" Cooper stt after cramming the 35s into the fenders and and it began its journey of having mismatched color panels for the next 6 or 7 years. When H3resq was a member here we became friends, and when he went full width I was talked into buying his axles and suspension. So off went the Rubicon express long arm kit that was held on by a total of 6 bolts and 4 sketchy bubblegum stich welds. Install on the rock krawler 3link was a pain and took much longer than I planned. After I swapped in the Rubicon d44 up front and the mj 44 in the rear, it sat more.. I'll try adding some pics in somewhat order from new to current. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk

So after a long 9months (at my pace) which I hear is standard gestation for the Mj, I can finally call Truck Norris done...ish. Here’s the back story. As with most things it’s either a “no time plenty of money or a no money plenty of time” situation. However, all the planets aligned for this one. I purchased the Mj from a good friend who has been using it as a run around/driveway plow truck. He has swapped everything (engine, trans, interior, door interiors and skins...etc) from a 96 Xj. So what we are left with is a very comfortable 92 Mj with Ac and power everything. What better way to screw it up then to tear it apart right? But an Mj is what I have always dreamed of having. So from what I started with, here’s what it is now. 92 Mj 4.0/aw4 backed by an atlas 3.0, hp 44/9” combo with 5.13’s and 35sp shtuff, ox locker/Detroit combo. 4wheel disk with a line lock. 37” nittos and MT classic 2s. Home brew bumpers and rock sliders. Hydro assist from psc/redneck ram. SOA with stock 2WD springs and a home brew 3link. Behind bumper winch, interior cage, beard suspension seats ( I unknowingly bought the seats from a guy who owned the truck 2 owners ago), 2000 Xj center console. Most of the floor was cut out to mitigate rust. All of the cooling system is new, I’ve been chasing an over heating issue for a while but may finally have it licked...fingers crossed. An awesome custom head liner compliments of my buddy’s craft master wife, and the best Bluetooth speaker Walmart can supply for $42. Behind the wheel of this truck may be the most fun I have ever had on or off the road.
