  1. Maybe 10 lbs, it's just aluminum. Make sure you get the flexplate, throttle body and senseors and TCU
  2. 88-91 isuzu troopers are the other source for the GM 60 degree bellhousing. It's pretty easy to put the AW4 behind a renix era 2.5L. You will need the bracket that holds the TV cable on the throttle body, and an automatic TPS (It has 2 outputs, one is inverted for the TCU). The more difficult part to find will be the flexplate. Putting it behind a non-renix 2.5 like I did in my 94 YJ is a bigger pain and requires some custom work.
  3. The 2.5 also has a different TCU - the shift points are different. The bellhousing is fairly easy to find, they used an AW4 variant in some isuzus, which is the same bellhousing that was used with the 2.5L cherokees. The TC is really hard to find, but since you are putting it behind a 3.8 there is no reason you couldn't use the 4.0L TC. I've got one in my 2.5L YJ with Bretts shifter
  4. What size tires are on that MJ oldjeep? 275x75x16? Stock rubicon MTR's 245/75/16
  5. I traded mine even up with a guy in my club for the set of black steel rims and 33" mud rovers that came on the comanche. My rims are pretty scuffed up, but match the rest of the truck ;)
  6. Glad to hear that Chuck. I'm picking up a set of 04 Rubicon 16"x8" wheels tomorrow. Any idea what the offset is on these? Offset is 5"
  7. The backspace is 5" Rim size is 16x8
  8. I've got stock Rubicon rims and tire on my kids MJ. Fits nice
  9. Not sure what it's for, but this drawing just shows a plug in it: http://www.drivetrain.com/242transfercasesillust.htm
  10. I've heard everything from same length, .5" and 1" I'd sure like to see a picture of each with a tape measure on them
  11. Wow, I've broke those things strapping wood down to a utility trailer.
  12. The 231 has : 2WD high, 4WD high (part time) and 4wd Low (part time) 242 has: 2WD high, 4wd high (fulltime), 4WD high (part time) and 4wd Low (part time)
  13. Anyone know the overall length difference between a 242 and 231? I was thinking of swapping a 242 into my kids truck before winter. The truck already has a non disconnect front axle, so the vac junk could be completly removed. Just would need to run wires for the 4wd indicators.
  14. Where's a good place to get replacement carpet for a comanche? It's for a 1990 eliminator with dark grey carpet. I just pulled out the old stuff to repair the holes in the floor and the underside of the carpet is pretty rotted
  15. The condenser for the AC appears to be missing
  16. There's a chain in there which is what drives the front axle. You still should have power to the rear axle with a broken chain
  17. Certifit - they cost less than $10 http://certifit.com/
  18. The bed I have is smashed pretty badly on the lower parts. I'm not willing to spend a whole lot of time repairing it and from the pictures I've seen it doesn't look too bad with the lowers cut off. Once I get a couple other projects done I'll drag the extra bed back to the shop and see what I can do with it.
  19. Anyone have some good side shots of a short bed with the lower panel cut off the bed? I found a couple on pirate, one of which looks pretty good but its small and from an angle. I picked up a different bed for my kids 90 and the top 3/4 of it are pretty decent - most of what is below the top of the buldge is messed up. Something like this: (Pic taken from pirate thread)
  20. Anyone have any good ideas for an in bed snowboard rack? Figured I'd make something for my kid so that they are not just laying back there. I've got a tube bender, welder, plasma, etc - just no ideas ;)
  21. Just copy Novaks setup. It'll cost you $10 worth of go cart tierod parts and some scrap steel. I've got a similiar setup that I built for my YJ, works pretty slick.
  22. The TCU can be removed pretty easily without removing the trim panel it's bolted to. Reach under the dash underneath the glove compartment and you'll feel the TCU. The plug is on the right side, squeeze the connector and pull. Then you remove 2 nuts to get the tcu out. Should take less than 5 minutes.
  23. If it's not the IAC, it could just be an arcing plug wire. The idle on my sons comanche was bouncing and that was the cause.
  24. Stock output shaft - go boom. Seems to be where they always break
