Wow, that's a great looking truck. Any details on the mirror install? I've wanted to do something similar to mine, but would like if it had map lights on the mirror also. Sent from my LM-V405 using Tapatalk

Before I can put the Comanche in my shop to begin work, I needed to move some stuff off of the floor and out of the way, so I spent today building new shelves. Nothing pretty, but they're solid. Sent from my LM-V405 using Tapatalk

91 Eliminator 83K miles refresh with NOS parts

Wow, love it. That's a good looking ride. Sent from my LM-V405 using Tapatalk -
Merry Christmas! I'm finally getting around to working on the Comanche. I dropped it here behind the shop a little over two years ago, and here it sits. It's been a long road of house repairs and projects, getting married, and having a son. Time to circle back to my dream truck In 2006, I bought my first Jeep, a 89 XJ Wagoneer. Being in high school and only working part-time, my plans and dreams for it never came to be reality, but now I'm a little better suited to fix up my dream truck. I'd like to build it in a 2000s era style, along the lines of my plans for the Waggy. I love the 80's-ness of the truck and I don't want to stray too far from that. What does that mean? Original front end, no 97+ clip or interior No LED lights, especially not headlights. Stick to halogen auxiliary lighting. 15 inch wheels, likely bullet holes 32x11.50R15 tires (unless I have to go up to a 33 for more tire options) Finish the 4.0 HO swap, entire harness and all. Interior color change to grey. Power window/locks Full console swap. Probably going to stay with the foot E brake for now. Interior sound deadening. Roll bar or headache rack for lights. Basically replicate a fully loaded 92 HO MJ plus a few niceties. And eventually, paint. I've been leaning towards root beer brown, but I'm liking the factory blue still. So, in short, nothing has been done. But, maybe shortly, something will be. Sent from my LM-V405 using Tapatalk

Thanks, eaglescout. By this paint chip guide, PB3 is Spinnaker Blue Metallic. Later it must have been superceded by Intense Blue Pearl. A few interesting things in the sheet. It's a column shift, and the buckets are vinyl, not cloth. Sent from my LM-V405 using Tapatalk

I've made some that do, but I mainly prefer without. Just a jalapeno with pimento cheese and bacon, hickory smoked. Sent from my LM-V405 using Tapatalk

Ask me in a while. All I've got done so far is the axle swap, lift and drivetrain swapped in. About to begin on the rest, but, as is Comanche tradition, first comes fixing the floors. Sent from my LM-V405 using Tapatalk

Here's my first foray into smoking. I decided against spending big money on a smoker until I get some delicious practice in first to see how much I'll actually use it. Found an old oven sitting curbside for free, things went from there. Details: Rewired to 110V, original 220V element is now calculated at ~800W. It's enough to hit 350F, although it takes a while. It'll hit 250F in less than 10 minutes from cold, so that's good enough for me. Inkbird ITC-106VH PID controller: first one was DOA, second works well. Can probably tune better, but it holds temp +-3F. Smoke comes from an AMNPS pellet tray in the mailbox, then through the ductwork into the bottom of the oven. First run smoked about 10 hours off of 1 tray. Built a rolling cart from scrap lumber and HF furniture dolly casters. Total cost is somewhere around $80. The oven is a 1974 model GE. One of the first to offer self-cleaning, it's pretty well insulated, also, it's a bit of a unique size at 27". The maiden run was a small pork butt for 9.5 hours at 225F. Flavor was fantastic, but it was a pretty sorry cut of meat. It may not be pretty or make a smoke ring, but it's working fine for me. Yall have a good one. Sent from my LM-V405 using Tapatalk

Well, it's only been forever, but finally got the 4.0 powerstick in. Decided to try to slip in the engine, transmission and transfer case as a unit. At 6'3" long, I thought it'd be a lot harder than it ended up being.

Wow, it's been forever. Things have been crazy, I bought a repo house that needed a decent amount of work, but now I have an air conditioned shop to shove my projects in. In the meantime, the Comanche has been totally ignored. I hate it, but working plumbing trumps MJ. I did do some thorough cleaning of the engine bay and reinstalled the gearbox and new IRO spacer. Unfortunately, I've got another project ahead of this one for the time being, fixing a friend's F100 with blown head gaskets. Sent from my LG-H900 using Tapatalk

Best place to buy stock leaf springs
scguy replied to dcramer67's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I've dealt with SD truck springs putting leaf springs in a Chevy Astro. They made a good product. -
Okay good deal. If you haven't already, check out the Naked Goldwing forum. For any gear, I love motorcyclegear.com I would also recommend watching Twist of the Wrist II on YouTube. A Goldwing isn't a sports bike, but the physics are all the same and understanding why a bike handles the way it does is invaluable.

Do you do any long rides? That's my head and butter, man. I took a month off work last year and put 10k miles on my VFR800 traveling from SC to Canada and Oregon, Utah, the works.

I love a naked Wing. My cousin has an 80 GL1100 he stripped down and that thing will scoot. That's my 84 Nighthawk 700S in the background. I love the bags and color. Keep the shiny side up!

Not much progress, just waiting on some parts I ordered from IRO Offroad. Double shear track bar and steering box spacer.

I've seen an evaporator core do two things; leak or get plugged with dirt and have no airflow across. If you're using a vacuum pump, that's good. Most people around here just shoot cans and call it done. It's still best to charge my weight and not by pressure, but with gauges and a sight glass, you can do pretty good. Here's a tip, if the expansion valve is plugged, which it likely is, you'd better replace your filter drier also as it's likely come apart and plugged your expansion valve. If you really want to fix it right, you should also flush the condenser and evaporator. If you take it to a shop with a proper AC recovery machine, they might credit it back to you when you go to charge rather than just let the air have it. I really recommend getting it vacuumed and charged by an actual scaled machine.

I used to run Pioneer radios, but they've really cheaped out. I like JVCs for the money now.

Now to decide on tires/ wheels. I'm liking the 32x11.50R15s. I wouldn't mind 16s, but the two popular sizes, 265/75 and 285/75 aren't exactly what I'm looking for. I'm keeping an eye out for takeoffs.
