1988 Comanche 4.0 Manual Auction - Colorado
scguy replied to scguy's topic in Craigslist/eBay... i.e. Not Your Stuff
Great! Are you a first time Comanche owner? -
My wife used to have a restaurant in Carlisle. We might have to make the trip up, although, likely (definitely) not in the Comanche.
-
I also replaced my coolant temp sender for the cluster gauge, but it is still off by 30 or 40 degrees. Probably will have to go Mopar. Are you supposed to use Teflon tape on the threads? My oil pressure gauge needs a sender as well.

Finally got around to a few put off items. 1: replaced the undercharging stock 90A alternator with a new 117A from a 99 XJ. It came with a load test spec sheet in the box and it tested at 138A at 2000RPM. I went with the 117A because I didn't want to mess with grinding down the block and bracket to fit the 136A, more popular alternator swap. Bolts right up, just make sure to get a connector, because they're not very common and are very expensive to order new (~$38). I actually made a Pull a Part run just for the connector. After install, at idle with the high beams on (100w Hellas), AC on full blast, radio on, electric fans on, etc, I was sitting at 14.2V. Great success. This alternator will be able to take more advantage of my 2ga battery cables. 2: AC compressor kit. My old expansion valve froze up, so I decided to replace the compressor as well. I went with all the stuff from a 94 XJ, which came with R134a. AC is back to working well, and I pulled several leaves out of my blower motor resistor.

They had a sign about a 25% off special, not sure if it was for everything or just some category they didn't list, but it's worth a shot.

It's really pretty clean, had a small dent driver's side low, but looked like it could be worked with. Slightly crinkled under the RH taillight

Truck's still here. Pretty much everything MJ specific is gone, minus a few interior parts. Did grab the center console tray with the emergency brake handle block off. Has a FEY rear bumper. It had a roll bar in it at one time, but it and the brackets are gone.

Purely my opinion, but stock height, SWBs look better, lifted LWBs look better. Or I tell myself that anyways. I like that with the long bed, you can have a toolbox and still have a useable bed.

Cherokee dash to Comanche chassis
scguy replied to Redrover's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
You have to run a wire from the P terminal coming from your multifunction switch to pin 11 on the black XJ dash connector. Scratched my head over this one when I did my HO swap. https://r.tapatalk.com/shareLink/topic?url=https://comancheclub.com/topic/18588-xj-dash-harness-to-rear-mj-harness-wiring-guides/&share_tid=18588&share_fid=53169&share_type=t&link_source=app -
Cooper Tire EU messaged and asked to use my Comanche photo for their Instagram feed. Thought that was pretty cool.

Here's my contribution. Habanero cheese stuffed, bacon wrapped, hickory smoked meatloaf.

Made some the other week. They were great!

It's a Pointer Arista 20ga O/U. Not mine, it's my cousin's. Sweet handling gun though.

No, they weren't flying much.

Took the Comanche dove hunting yesterday.

Absolutely beautiful. Such a perfect truck. -
I replaced the heater core before I installed the interior. The body harness in the truck is from a 93 XJ. It has the relays. It's full HO swapped.

A few more recent shots.

So far, the overheating seems to have been a faulty thermostat combined with brakes dragging. The brakes dragging were caused by the WJ booster not being spaced out enough, so that was a cheap fix. I installed a Mopar thermostat, so far so good. The alternator isn't charging up to par, so I ordered a new 117A alt off a 98+ XJ. The AC quit on me, from what I can figure, the expansion valve is completely stuck closed, bad enough that when I charged it from the low side, the high side had 0 psi. So I've ordered an all new compressor kit. I'll flush the evaporator again when I have the expansion valve off. The condenser is new, that should be new everything. Everytime I fix something, I find something else, the RH power window motor is now weak, but once I get the AC working again, I shouldn't need to roll it down much. I'll probably get new window wipes here soon so that I can go ahead and get the windows tinted. As much as I look, I can't seem to find the passenger bucket seat. Don't know how an entire seat disappears, but I just need the brackets. Guess I'll have to buy brackets too.

I haven't replaced the rad cap yet. I'm thinking it's possibly a thermostat problem.
-
I have a triple electric fan setup with shroud. It seems to pull plenty of air. I don't really see how my 4.0 would be making any more vacuum than a WJ 4.0.

Mopar overstock has several new 2 door black bezel window switches for sale on eBay. Now as far as I know, they fit as far back as 93. Not sure about years before. I've uploaded a picture of mine that I received. Very happy for the price.
