  1. Got the horn button :brows: I'll pm ya after I visit the JY this weekend.
  2. Looking good Pat. I might have some trim pieces for the seat back release lever. Didn't have time last weekend to pull them before they ran me out the JY. If they're there this weekend I'll get them. You'll have to use the dye though. One was gray and the other was tan. Might pull the gray buckets if they are still there. Interested :brows: j/k
  3. Just pulled the tie rod and drag link from a V8 ZJ for $26, but yea I got dirty. Well worth it to have a that bigger solid tie rod. :brows:
  4. PM'd ya. It was pricey. It's kind of hard to appreciate it with it still all apart. I'm sure we'll be happier once it's back together. If I was going to do it again, I would have done all the bodywork and sanding then had them shoot it. Here's a link to the paint shop. They've had some interesting cars go through there. http://www.micarcollision.com/door/

    your first car

66 C-10 Chevy pickup. That thing was a tank. Had air adjustable shocks in the rear and coil lugs up front with 50's on white wagon wheels. In less than 2 minutes I could slam it to the ground by letting the air out the shocks and removing the spring lugs. :brows: First new car was a 87 Subaru XT. The wedge. :D
  6. Well got the manche back from the paint shop. How bout that custom bumper? Still need to make the second part of the road trip down to the LineX shop for the bed and cab floor.
  7. I posted it up about 30 mins before this post in the classifieds. I think this one will be more intertaining. I say right at 5k. :D
  8. Have kind of been away for awhile dealing with two Jeep projects and of course the holidays. :wrench: I took the MJ in to get painted and finally got it back all but the hood. I'll be updating pic's in the project thread later. :D While it was at paint, I rolled the TJ in the garage to put the toys I bought some time ago in. D44's from a 04 rubi with a 241OR tcase. That's when the fun began. Needless to say the tcase was in and out of the TJ about five times. :wall: TJ is an automatic so with the shorter input shaft on the 241, I had to install a teraflex seal extender. It wasn't hard to put in but unfortunily next to impossible to get back out. Took at least every cuss word :grrrr: and a highly modified gear puller. I'll be doing a write-up for the DIY section with some good pics and do's and don'ts. I got a TW rear driveshaft but still need to get a front driveshaft made or if I can find a rubi front shaft that would be probably cheaper. Still need to hook up the wiring, air hoses, and switches to the factory lockers. As well as fine tune some adjustments here and their. All in all it took me about a week and a half because of turkey day and waiting for parts. Love the new gearing around town but the upper end is limited now. Went from 3.07 to 4.10. If my tranny had overdrive it would be perfect. Still need to work on both jeeps but now with Christmas in the wings and various holiday functions, not sure how much will get done. I almost forgot, to top all this off, I sprung my wrist the first day wrenching on the TJ. :headpop:
  9. Just heard on the radio that Pick n Pull was having a Half Price sale this weekend (17-18 Nov 07) on all parts. Don't know if it is just here, but normally their sales are nation wide. Making a list and checking it twice. :D Just another reason to look forward to the weekend.
  10. Nice job. I wanted to paint ours but the kid wanted a "professional paint job". It's hittin his wallet hard too. You did move the mustang when you painted, right? That was our first choice on projects, but found the MJ instead. :D
  11. Got it off craigslist from a guy up in Richmond for $160. They can be had new for $400 at Quadratec http://www.quadratec.com/products/55023_003_T.htm Could probably shop around and find it cheaper, Like I did. :brows:
  12. The front clip, tailgate, and fender flares are in the cab. Hoods in the bed. It's SOA in the rear and about 3.5 to 4 in the front and setting on 31's. I have a new set of RE 4.5 springs for the front when I swap the axles which should even her out. It's been almost to the day a year since we brought it home, so I was glad to see it off to paint. I'm hoping to get her back together and on the road by Xmas. While it's gone, I'll work on the engine rebuild from the donor and swapping my D44's into the TJ. Thanks's to all here at CC for the encouragement, ideas, and tech assist.
  13. Well, we got the MJ out of the garage today to take a little road trip. She'll be at the paint shop for the next couple of weeks. TJ pulled it well but I didn't have to go over 40 mph and the paint shop is only about 3 miles away. I don't think I would trust it on the open road for a long trip. Even though the TJ weighs more, the swb on it raises the pucker factor a little too much for my liking. On a side note, I found the best engine compartment cleaner. It's call Purple Power. Stuff is fantastic. It cuts through the greasy residue and leaves a clean surface. Caution though, it will remove paint. :brows:
  14. This link might help. Its a pdf file and I think what you need is on page 3. Cruise Control link
  15. Not sure about the cams but if your camber is that bad, I would consider just pulling a non-disco D30 from a XJ with all the steering elements. JY down here, it would cost about $100. You would solve your camber and get an upgraded axle. Just my .02
  16. The write up on MADXJ I posted above did that because he use a 97 booster with a longer arm. Then found out the 96 booster was a direct swap with the execption of drilling the hole larger and shaving a little off the back of the arm. Or a plug & play if you use the 96 pedal assembly as well. He has both write ups on the link.
  17. :headpop:  :wall: That just blows. I guess we'll be seeing them on the bay here pretty soon. :( Sorry it didn't work out for you.
  18. Count me in on this one as well. I've got two sets but a new set would be sweet. Take a pic of those bins if you can. :D Only thing that would be better then this is if you found a bin with the two piece headlight bezel.
  19. Yep it's been done. Will be done on mine when ever I put it back together. Here's a link to some pic's and another write up. Click on THIS.
  20. That pic is so cool. I know it probably sucked when it happened, but what a work of art. I hope you kept that for the garage wall. :D
  21. Interesting. I had planned on having my 2wd double tubed shaft shorten. I'm guessing that the rubber melts when you try to weld the end back on which makes them a poor candidate. I could see how that would make it hard to balance the shaft. I had been researching on other forums the possibility of using an XJ front shaft with an SYE. I've seen a few xj'ers have done it but they didn't have to add to the overall lenght of the shaft, just the yoke coming out of the t-case. I figured for the mj, use a SYE and the front portion of the xj shaft. Then all that would need to be fab'd would be the back part to connect to the axle yoke. Problem is, it's probably just as costly as having one made. :dunno:
  22. How bout finding an old postal carrier xj that had right hand drive. Take the two dashes, cut them in the center. Both ends would match up and you would only have to join the middle. :brows:
  23. I've seen an XJ like that. Had to take a double take. It would be great for a offroad rig but I don't think I'd like a DD that way. Just my .02
  24. Same here. My 88 4 banger was open.
  25. After reading the MADXJwrite up and your experience, I will leave the prop valve where it is. I looked up the wiring diagram but it only shows two wires and the MADXJ write up doesn't help either. It did say that if you leave your stock pedal, you could use a brake switch from a 93 xj. I'm curious about how you wired your switch and if your pedal position was the same after the swap as well.
