it's an OK idea, but would be alot of extra hassle...like starting a second forum inside a forum. and this ain't naxja (thank god). if it were to be done, a stickied thread in the pub would be best I think...not classifieds. simply because that's where we talk about things like that, and classifieds is where we sell things/buy things, not leave feedback.

PROJECT BUDGET MANCHE - Now on 35's!

I'll probably build a set of tube doors. If I could find a good drivers side door for cheap I may do half doors but they are a ton of work. I've only got what, a week left to get her done in time for the Badlands, it will be doorless as I don't have enough time to do anything else... :brows: I thought about TJ flares on the front. I don't have another set yet, and once again time is a factor at the moment. I'm just going to trim the fenders a bit and probably move the stock flares up a few inches for now. I have a spare set of rear TJ flares here. put rears on the front to match your rears... and I can bring them to the badlands. say, $20 for both? one has a crack in the lower portion where you would cut it to fit body lines anyways... -

project tatersalad -- decision is...SCRAP IT!
JeepcoMJ replied to JeepcoMJ's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
haha, not lookin to spend any $$$ on anything else right now. just found out I'm back in school for the fall semester! unfortunately, that leaves me completely broke and now I have even less $$$ than before to get the 89 done. BUT I may be getting a cherokee chassis for $125 that has a good title but smashed front end. there is no rust on it, so I'm thinking of a 4 door comanche right now...since I'd be able to replace all the bad stuff on tatersalad with this chassis, and then title it as a cherokee. 5.5 foot bed anyone? -
I'm less concerned with gas mileage than safety and ability to get out of tight spots. hence the fact that my second car and DD is another comanche, and it's 4wd. SO that leaves me NEEDING 4wd. unless I'm driving a lowrider truck, there isn't any point in having 2wd. and yes, I would only buy a cummins with a manual or a duramax with a manual. fords are out because I hate working on them. ford has made them too difficult to work on and they've odne it on purpose. they also sell CRAP because then they know you will be coming to the dealership to get them fixed often...if you even make it off the lot.

I still have this. anyone have any suggestions as to what to do with it? the body is less than good...it's straight, but rusty. floors are non-existant. it's powered by a 2.8 and an ax15, and has a homebrew hick lift kit. no rear brakes, bald tires, front right coil spring mount on the axle is broken, turdy-5 rear with bad spiders, 3.55 gears. half the interior is gone, and most of the wiring is bad... it is either for sale, OR it needs to be chopped up, made into a trailer, and have the back half of the cab cut off and saved for a cheromanche/extended cab comanche project. all the frame is there and solid tho...and it's a longbed. maybe it's a good base for a extended cab project? -
you will probably have to buy a kit online. you need the splined piece that hooks to the column, plus the extension to the steering wheel, the covers to make it look good, and the horn probably.
-
yes, I am having a problem...I'm not sure if I want to risk using the stock extended UCA's. plus they are a bit short.. otherwise, I have no idea what the problems will be.
-
yep, I figure the rear sits about 2.5" higher than stock
-
thanks! I have to remove mine entirely because I'm doing an SOA and will need the axle out of the truck..

using a lathe is not a difficult thing to do at all. you simply need too get the item centered in the lathe (via a measurement tool), and as you are threading in you need to spray it with a cooling compound to prevent from warping. all I needed was the info on the joints, I have the steel already. thanks! -
look up inside under the dash. above the fusebox, feel the bottom of the reservoir with your finger and pull it out. if it's wet, the master is leaking. this is likely. on that note, then buy some electrical cleaner in a spray can and spray the crap out of your fusebox as well...as clutch fluid eats electrical connections. if that is not the case, then you need to be looking down at the bellhousing area for anything wet that doesn't look like it's actual oil. problem is that were the slave leaking, it would prove to flow into the same area as any oil leaks do...and therefore be non-discernable from the oil.

more pics today... drove it over what's left of our conveyor belts... kinda a pose pic I climbed my rock pile me happy now the rear needs a lift compare and contrast
-
hehe, I agree. and yes, I will be buying that from you...and soon. I have a limited slip differential in it now. no time to regear. if you have msn or aim you should add me...
-
yeah, that's the plan...why, got an option for me? :P
-
that's a good deal, but it makes no sense.... driving a 2wd in the winter instead of a 4wd :P course, I can hardly talk...I won't drive the 3800 in the snow anymore either.
-
it still has balls with the 33's but obviously 4.10's would out-perform the 3.07's easily. even 3.73's would do well. can't wait to finish it up.

I'm thinking of taking them out too and plating over them with what I have left of the other control arms for durability. that will remove some flex though... Ideally, I need some upper control arms that offer more flex on the joints, as the stock bushings won't offer much. so Cole, I'll take you up on your offer, if you could post info here, or pm that would help me alot. p.s. I have access to TONS of equipment, so tapping a tube won't be a problem..I can use the lathe.
