  1. Do you want to do it twice? If not, get the dual core. Aw4 can and do overheat. You are going to end up pulling something with it eventually, and will want the peace of mind
  2. Where on earth do you come up with the words "only $110k" The point is it costs *more* for the negligable gains of e cars or corn based fuel. It Is NOT affordable. Not in the slightest.
  3. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Comanche-pickup-bed-Chrysler-8-25-axle-taillights-tailgate-tail-lights-trailer-s-/191145169844?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Make%3AJeep%7CModel%3AComanche&hash=item2c8123d3b4&vxp=mtr
  4. I would bolt the converter up to the flexplate before installing either. Having stripped over 40 XJ's and MJ's, I'm probably a good bit more accurate than the parts store
  5. I only know because my 87 started life in my hands with a 4x4 conversion using a 95 trans
  6. It will not. They changed TC bolt pattern in 93, 95, and iirc 97. That is not a fun mistake to make. Last 4 bolts and they don't bolt up...
  7. There are ZERO differences in harness plugs, mounts, or function of the 95 aw4. The trans bolts right up, and plugs right in. What IS different is the torque converter bolt pattern. If your 2wd trans doesn't work, buy a new torque converter for the 90 (bad trans means contaminated fluid which means junk torque converter). Put a new front input seal on and call it a day.
  8. I top off on zero ethanol at the only semi local place every other fill up, then fill at the closest station at exactly 1/2 tank. For long trips, I fill from empty at zero ethanol. A little more expensive, but even mixed, I see 1-2 mpg increase, and better power. Straight ethanol, I get 16mpg best with mixed on the KJ.
  9. It isn't a bias, it's an appreciation for things that look good. You were a catalyst, to be sure. Though I will say that I have had my patience tried on the subject for quite some time. To me, "mods" like this are a freakjeep association. The older generation will get this reference.
  10. Trade you the work for food and guaranteed sale of an MJ
  11. Good way to get shot (or shot at) in today's society. Edit: Don't get your panties in a knot about my comment either because: (1) You know its true, and (2) you know I've seen it. Now we wait for the first fool to say "Oh well, I'd shoot back...." Not in my area. Aside from a few recently moved people and some trailer trash, we don't have much for crime. I see your point, and you are right. In a situation where life is threatened, self defense is warranted. I have my cow for a reason. But this isn't the Wild West, this Is apparently the time of a holes who do stupid things to and with their cars.
  12. I would rock that, too
  13. Also, if i The title says 1990, DO NOT put a 91 flywheel on. It will not even attempt to start. Your issue is that you are aligning the flywheel improperly
  14. Tinting affects just as much as paint. And I slow down when I see ricers behind me with this, not to allow them to pass, but to frustrate them. Preference or not, it makes you easy to spot as a certain type of person...one not associated with being stand up. It also increases your chances of being profiled by the police as an unsavory type. Bad enough to see people driving down the road with mud caked on their trucks, especially in areas where there are zero known legal offroad spots. This just increases the negative. Judgements.
  15. Anyone? Seriously, name one benefit? I keep seeing these XJ's and MJ's with part of the headlights painted off. It is far from physically appealing, and limits the function of the headlamps.
  16. Go to a parts store, tell them what model make and year, and that you need a clutch hose. Then buy it.
  17. Been there done that. Would not have grabbed it if I had not already done the swap a few times
  18. I will just say that I have done the sea foam to tank twice, and once had to replace injectors. I've done the add to oil, run for 5 to 10 minutes, and do oil change method twice. One of two ended up needing a new motor less than 1000 miles later with 160k on the ticker and zero previous issues, the other started knocking so I got rid of it cheap. Both on 4.0. That puts me at 50% success at best. No, thanks. Long and short of the concept is this: breaking loose debris anywhere around moving parts without thoroughly removing it (remove oil pan, remove injectors and blow them out, etc) is a terrible idea. It is why local shops do not recommend replacing seals on a junkyard motor swap
  19. Rob and I headed out to LKQ today, unaware that it was half off weekend. We went to search for parts for his xj. I'm sure he will post up soon. We had a bunch of back and forth to make it happen, but we got a lot of parts for behind the sheetmetal for his xj. There was a trashed 98 2 door xj in the yard, power windows, locks, mirrors. Picked up the driver window switch and bezel, and the 96 and up 2 door front seat tilt mechanisms. Also picked up an 05 KJ heater control (which has a/c on off button, unlike the early KJ) as well as 3 evic WJ overhead computers to swap into KJ's. And scored a 99+ 4.0 intake manifold that was on the ground, already removed. I spent $63 at the yard, and $140 at harbor freight on the interim run. The 98 2 door switches and everything came out very nicely. A good day.
  20. Like I said. Maybe some clarification is necessary. The block is cast iron. With all of the machined bearing surfaces, something as trivial as the gravity oil return passages is simply punched out, and the debris removed. That is why the jagged edges are there.
  21. It's normal to have jagged edges on the oil return galleys
  22. It's the lifted one on cl I assume? Different truck then. To clarify, including that one, there are under 30 known in the continental u.s. Mine left with a clear title, it is the blue one that can be seen on youtube with all of the rust.
  23. And, had 270,000 miles on a motor with a junk head that still ran
  24. What is the vin if you don't mind? My old truck is in that area, and sold around October. It needed a bed, floors, doors. Had light blue bench seat interior.
  25. Renault's are reliable, ONLY if you know how to work on them. If you cannot do much past an oil change and brakes, this is not the truck for you. Look at automan2164 and his build thread on his diesel. We also owned one. Where is it located, and can you provide pics? I want to make sure it isn't our old one with some new parts....ours had 270k miles on it
