Year, Make, Model. 1989 Jeep Comanche Pioneer Image, if available Engine / Trans / Transfercase / Front axle / Rear axle / Wheelbase 4.0/AW4/NP231/D30/D44/LWB Build date: (its on the driverside door sticker, in the form of month and year) worn away  Current Location: Region will do, state, and area of state. Project under way to give a still solid truck a new life Notes: Anything that makes this comanche different from the rest. Skid plates, plows, lights, bumpers, weird factory options... Would also be a good place to note the exterior color, and the interior color and combination, IE, Bench or buckets, Vinyl or cloth, column shift or floor shift. Full Factory Skids (Gas tank skid mia but mouts were still there), Loaded interior minus full gauges, Truck was orgionally black but paint is in rough shape. cloth bench seat with column shift. Basically a high end Pioneer package back from the factory Current owner: Well, you know. Put down who has it, the yard its in, or anything of that sort. BJ Naugle (ComancheKid45)
  4. Alittle more Axle work this evening, New brake lines are on (minus the main rear 1) and a quick coat of paint. I pulled the cover and everything inside looked good, I'm not sure if this is the orgional Axle for this truck unless they changed them over for the 1990 year, this 1 has 9" drums like my 96 XJ. My 88 MJs D35 uses 10" Drums :hmm: Anyway I feel kinda weird putting effort into cleaning up a D35 but hey, once its in its new home Ill have a D44 to go over next  Stay Tuned... :typing:
  5. no problemo. I'll send some out next chance I get. 870 Remington, yes? Yes that is correct! I gave my last 1 to a windsheild of a pretty SWB today
  6. No, I removed the vent hose prior to snapping the picture, the hose that was cut was the brake line, I was just confused on how 2 replace it prior to knowing that peice was indeed removable ;)
  7. O alright Awesome......i never thought of that :fool: Thanks!
  8. Alright so I am currently working on a D35 to swap in my 89 MJ and have come to a bit of a confusion.... The rear hard lines on the axle will need replace as the fittings were rusted tight, no biggie however when the axle was removed the brake line was just cut on the rubber line. Now that ive began looking over everything i believe that rubber line and "block" are acctually part of the axle assembly :hmm: here's a pic of what I'm talking about, basically I'm just looking for an idea about working around this or what excatly to do about it when i goto put the new brakes lines on and swap this axle in... Thanks for any help. The rubber hose end that was cut is also in the pic.
  9. Began going over the Axle in preperation for the swap in.
  10. Id offer him $650...... If he'd throw a set of rims/tires on it id glady pay $800
  11. Had a very MJ filled afternoon. see my "new chapter" topic :D
  12. Well didnt do any direct work this this truck today but I did enjoy an afternoon pulling its donor axle from my parts rig. The meeting of the Comanches was commensed around 11:30am est. With some (ok alot) of help from some friends we managed to strip the Rear axle, leafs, and fuel tank out of my parts rig this afternoon. A Quick powerwash and check over of the axle shows brand new rear brakes and overall in good shape, alittle rusty but ill get it all cleaned up and change the fluid and it with new U bolts itll be ready to be installed within the next week or so. Stay Tuned! Next on the list, pulling the 44
  13. 3.55s will be a great upgrade from 3.07s
  14. Yeah, no one suffered any damage from them, most of them even held up great during that part of the course, I was acctually suprised 8)
  15. The whole cluster is plug and play. all you need is the correct oil pressure and water tempreture senders  The RPM gauge is already wired into the factory harness.
  16. Alright within the next month os so ill be completing my Axles swaps and would like to replace all the U bolts just for peice of mind. Can anyone send me a link or point me to a place that I can get 2 sets of U Bolts (8 total). I need 1 set for a Dana 35 rear and 1 set for a Dana 44 rear. Thanks!
  17. I'm not sure what this 1 will become. I have my current 88 MJ i DD most the time and have my XJ which is pretty much stock and is mainly used for highway trips and towing the Quads. When I'm finished with this truck I'm sure ill drive it around for alittle while, being its a LWB it might come in handy for hauling certian things around and such (compared to my SWB with rollbar). I still kinda have plans to re sell it next Spring/summer but it all depends on what I feel like, I'm not gonna have alot of money into it (thanks 2 the parts truck) so I might end up with just another MJ. Ill decide @ a later time, lol for now ill enjoy the project
  18. ok, ill try to upload it on youtube, might be 2 long though :dunno:
  19. I managed to pick it up for $1500. 8)
  20. Myself and my friends had a small competition between ourselves the other month, i know most of us have Facebook accounts so i figured id throw the link to the video up. The Comanche did well but nothing was 2 extreme. lol
  21. Yep, I'm only 23 and ive gotten the "wrath" of critisizm a time or 2 as well. Its your MJ, make it your own, no matter what, its still a comanche and thats why your here in the 1st place.
  22. Well untill i can acctually find a place around me that can perform a Driveshaft job id be willing to purchase 1. If you have a D44 shaft for a 4x4 SWB MJ throw me an offer. or even if your around my area and know of a place closeby that i can get 1 shortened please throw up that info as well. Thanks!
  23. I love creativity as much as the next guy, but really the only point were trying to push off onto you is you joined a website with many if not nearly all the members are passionate about what these trucks were and what they are today. What you started with was a pretty "highly ranked" model of Comanche. sure it was a bit beat up and rusty but for you to go and pretty much throw all the collectivity out of it really gets to some people. I'm not gonna say wether what your doing is acctually "wrong" or not, All I'm saying is these trucks are growing older everyday so you own a peice of Automotive history no matter what you choose to do with it. All I can say is I hope you wake up every day and smile when you get to jump in your Comanche, no matter what you choose to do with it. ;) Good Luck and I'm anxious to see your finished product
  24. I picked this Comanche up from a guy who is a regular in the Advance Auto Parts where i currently work. He just drove it in 1 day and I asked if i could take a look @ it. 5 mins later I came back in and offered to buy it from him. He accepted after some thought and I then aquired my 3rd MJ. This truck is an 89 Pioneer LWB. 4.0/AW4/D30/D44 It was orgionaly owned by an older fella who took it to a mechanic for a leaking fuel tank. Well right when work was completed sadly the orgional owner past away and this truck was left in the hands of the mechanic. He replaced many things including front brakes/rotors, a new Track bar, the Fuel Tank, and a few other misc. things. He then began driving it and acctually couldent get over how good it ran for him. It must have been in a front end accident at 1 time since the Hocky stick stripes end on the doors in different spots and the front fenders had been repainted. It came with a re constructed Title as well. Anyway the truck runs great for having 197000 on it. My plans for it is to 1st take the Dana 44 rear axle and swap it into my current MJ project. I have a parts truck that will gladly donate its Dana 35 and driveshaft to this 1. It does have a few small issues ive come across mainly with the window cranks and lock cylinders. These will all be fixed with supplied parts as well. My goal is by next Janurary (2011) is to have all the parts off it I want for my MJ and to have it ready to be road worthy and then get it licensed and insured. For now I just got a title transfer. In the end It will also get a nice spraypaint job of some sort, with Hurculiner on the bottom section. The only rust i have to tend to is above the Drivers rear wheel well, the floors have already been taken care of but I might coat the inside with POR-15 to insure its longetivity. Ill do my best to keep tabs on this 1 as well as my current project. I'm just happy to have saved another MJ and being able to give it a new life once again. My 1st thing i tackled tonight was to remove the drop in liner and sweep out the mess underneath......yuck!
  25. If you have the cash and a place to store it buy all means it looks like a worth while buy to me.
