I considered going to 97+ but I just love the older, more blocky style! Even more so I considered the option of finding a wagoneer front end. I would love to do that but chances are I will just go back to how it was. Thinking about getting some wheel spacers with the extra cash.

It worked out better than I expected. I was ticked until he started talking about how much the Jeep was worth according to the computer. Just gotta spend my next few off days working on it.

Well guys they totaled it out. They said it would cost about 1900$ to fix and that it wasn't worth that to them (no way it would need THAT much work). I cranked it up today and it had no issues with the engine. So it's cosmetics. The plus side is I kept the Jeep and got paid 1800$! So I will be doing the work myself and having it painted and probably coming out at least a grand richer :D actually happy they totaled it out. Still a clean title as well. Wrote me a check and said the wreck never happened.

Welcome! To save from electrical gremlins I would find an auto transmission one. Almost all stickshifts have had the clutch leak on the fuse box and REALLY messes with the electronics. And honestly coming from someone who has driven and owns both the auto Comanches are really fun to drive. I love my stickshift one to death but the auto one is very cozy to drive!

great! Crazed water buffalo... you don't see them around Bama to often.

you can see the fender a little better here. It's flared out real bad and the plastic flare is shoved against the tire so bad that I couldn't turn the steering wheel without power steering. Theres a chunk taken out of the tread of the tire as well from a stud. On the bright side I already had slight damage to that fender and the bumper which will probably be fixed now since the damage is 10x thanks to the deer.

If this was my other Jeep I would fix it and all by myself but since this is the super clean one I just bought (with a new paintjob) I want it all straight and color matched haha. I was scared my premium would go up. Which it still might. But I'm hoping it will stay where it is.

don't you ever leave your house? sentence of the day lol :D and I do plan to get a Super 44 eventually actually. The subwoofer made it loud inside so now to make it loud outside! Having to pay the deductible is going to set me back a little. I won't know anything until Tuesday or Wednesday because Geico adjusters don't work weekends.

my mother had one charge and hit her Jeep one time. What's the deal with deer and Jeeps!
-
The crazy thing is that I have never seen a deer in this spot before. Especially not in the middle of summer haha. But things happen, eh? Just happy this time I have insurance because last time one of my family members hit one it cost 1000$ without paint! If I didn't have insurance then I would be doing the work myself and getting it painted later on. Engine bay looks straight and at most the AC condenser is bent, I don't believe the radiator is.

I had JUST got the system installed in my Jeep yesterday and this morning when I left for work at 3 this happened. Going about 50 down the road, bumpin Drake with a massive smile on my face I see a deer hop out of the corner of my eye... and bam. Nailed the SOB. Slammed on my brakes with the sound of my tire scraping the front drivers fender and screaming words I shouldn't say as loud as I could. Deer hopped on its merry way. Mechanically I think I'm good, thankfully. But cosmetically is going to take some work. I do have coverage though with a 250$ deductible. I'm honestly happy this happened the way it did. If I had been in my Ford or going any faster then the deer would have rolled/landed on the hood and went through the windshield. But still I'm upset due to not being able to drive it for a little bit and I, you know, haven't even owned it for a month. Hoping that the body shop does a good job of matching the color and can have her looking better than ever.

MJ backerboard and Sub setup
Knucklehead97 replied to Jacob Ochs's topic in MJ Tech: DIY Projects and Write-Ups
Just finished this setup in my new Comanche. It's a Kicker Comp 10 300watt RMS 600watt peak running off of a Boss 1500 watt Mosfet monoblock amp. Haven't tuned it in yet but sheesh this thing sounds perfect in the small cab of an MJ. The whole setup cost 180$ shipped. Added Kickers to the doors and rear panels and a pioneer stereo. Very nice. -
Protecting bed rails
Knucklehead97 replied to Knucklehead97's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I guess the body lines of old Chevys match MJ's pretty well as far as the bed rails go. I gotta keep my eye out for an old Chevy with bed rails now. Thanks! :D -
Protecting bed rails
Knucklehead97 replied to Knucklehead97's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Those Chevy ones look good. Really good. Line-x quoted me AT LEAST 475$ to do the whole bed. So that's a no haha -
So the Comanche I just bought has a plastic bedliner in it. Which I love. But it only goes to under the bed rails. And my toolbox scraped up the brand new paintjob even though I added rubber underneath it. Not really worried about the scrapes that it has already, just want to protect it from further scrapes. What is everyone using as bed rail protectors? Does anyone make reasonably priced bed rail protectors for a Comanche? I would love to have Diamond plated black ones. Currently waiting on my quote request to come back from Line-x on getting the entire inner bed done all the way over the rails. Chances are it will be more than I'm willing to spend, though. Just lemme know what you guys have done! :D Thanks

My weekend was pretty sweet. Saturday was, at least. Woke up early and mowed my yard with the beast of a mower my mother bought last month (I uh... blew up the motor in our junky mower we had before...) then proceeded to move the TJ Canyons and brand new 235's from my old Jeep and put them on my new Jeep Originally the plan was to swap the tires onto the Turbines that came with the new Jeep. But I am REALLY digging the black Canyons and have gotten many compliments on how sweet it looks with them. Also put the tool box on it. And a poser shot with my Contour :D I work Sundays, though, so ya'll know how that weekend day was lol.

Fixing to need AC.
Knucklehead97 replied to Knucklehead97's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I threw about 50$ towards a Pioneer radio because I LOVE the one I have in my Contour. And 90$ for a set of front and rear Kicker speakers. Haven't quite decided on a subwoofer yet, looking at a kicker 300 watt RMS 10" with a VM amp in a ported box. The MTX 10" I have in my other Jeep in a ported Kicker box absolutely DESTROYED the small cab truck and it was only running at 250 watts peak. I definitely have to run a bass knob though because the girl I am talking to is not a big bass fan like I am lol :D this Jeep is so nice that I'm trying to put nice quality equipment in it and set it up good. Hence one of the reasons I'm actually going to get the AC fixed in it :D -
Fixing to need AC.
Knucklehead97 replied to Knucklehead97's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Great! Seems like I have a plan. Glad to have someone who actually repairs AC systems around to give me tips. This week I'm buying a radio/speakers/subwoofer then next paycheck I will be working on the AC! Been DDing this Jeep since my brother needs to borrow my Contour. Not having a radio is getting VERY annoying. I'll update ya'll when I get to working on it! -
Fixing to need AC.
Knucklehead97 replied to Knucklehead97's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The compressor locked up on my Contour before I bought it. The PO just bypassed it with a shorter belt. So basically my contour has a fully charged system ready to go if that compressor wasn't locked... sadly have to depressurize the system to change the compressor. Haven't decided whether I'm going to fix thr AC and heat in the Contour yet, though. Back to the Jeep. My plans are to borrow a vacuum thing from Autozone to test for leaks. If signs of a leak show then I will probably get a cheapo DIY freon kit and some dye (can you do the whole dye thing yourself?) And go from there. If it's a small leak, maybe the freon I add will give me some AC for a little while. -
Fixing to need AC.
Knucklehead97 replied to Knucklehead97's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Thank you for showing me the difference in ports! Just ran out to install the grill the correct way on my lunch (PO was an idjit) and checked the ports. It's already set up for 134a apparently! I'll check the compressor soon and go from there -
Fixing to need AC.
Knucklehead97 replied to Knucklehead97's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Is the adapter kit a universal thing or per vehicle? And will I have to change the compressor to a 134a compressor? I'm completely clueless on anything involving AC systems so this will be fun haha -
Fixing to need AC.
Knucklehead97 replied to Knucklehead97's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
And from what I have read so far, I really should just go ahead and convert to 134a or whatever the new refrigerant is called? What exactly is required to swap? -
Fixing to need AC.
Knucklehead97 replied to Knucklehead97's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I cranked it and turned the AC to max/cold and nothing changed. Still blew hot and didn't hear any different noises. I read somewhere that the clutch will not engage if the freon is low? -
So been driving this new Jeep a little bit. Haven't drove it far but it seems to be doing perfect other than a roar coming from the rear when I get up to speed. There's a few little things I want to fix and the only one that I have no experience on is getting the AC fixed in it. Heat is amazing but the AC is just air. I personally don't care for AC but I recently started going out with a girl and I would like for things to be more comfortable for her in the Jeep. Where should I start on figuring out what is wrong with the AC?

I found a bunch of holes just like that in my yard and couldn't figure out what the heck put them there. Now it makes sense because as you know, I'm in N Alabama as well. I see Armadillos out here all the time. Mostly dead on the road thankfully. Had one really jack up the underside of a little Sentra I drove for a year one time.
