If you can swing it I'd go with the Bosch pump, the airtex pumps are poor quality . There is a locating tab for the screen / strainer on the lower ring of the fuel sender , between the force of the strainer being pushed on the pump and slightly crimping the locating tab it will stay in place just fine . Bosch , Delphi , AC delco , carter , precision then airtex . are my opinion from best to worst pumps . There are other brands I'm sure but that's my personal experience . Has anyone ever had any problems with the "poor quality" airtex pumps? Years ago I installed one in Wilbur, lived there for a few years, then ended up on a shelf when I got an after market. When the stock pump gave up in the Purple People Eater I tossed in the old Airtex one and it still runs fine to this day. I just went ahead and got the Bosch cause of the brand name. I can't speak for the fuel pumps, but everything else Airtex that I have gotten has been horrible. My TPS didn't even last 10 minutes.

Stock height double shear trac-bar
Knucklehead97 replied to Knucklehead97's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Since I'm wanting to change trac bar's anyways I have considered going 3". I guess it will all depend on how I'm feeling when I get around to doing it! Of course the end decision might be just getting a Moog and staying stock if I continue to like how my 235's look on the truck. Not a wheeler at all so flex isn't a worry. But I would like MT springs and I hear they offer 3" of lift. -
Stock height double shear trac-bar

I definitely like 31's more. That's what I'll be running eventually probably. And great! A double shear that will work with a close enough height. I'll just lift 1" if I have to and run that trac bar for a bit when I get everything back running right. Thanks guys!. -
Stock height double shear trac-bar

I just like the idea of a double shear more than the TRE end trac bar, is why I don't just run a Moog and be done. And i honestly am considering going ahead and lifting... got any pictures of yours on 2" and 235's? -
Who knows what this vacuum line goes to?

Some valve on the heater core lines. I deleted mine and capped off the vacuum line. Most people go that route from what I hear. I sadly don't have a picture. -
Stock height double shear trac-bar
Knucklehead97 posted a topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Is there a such thing for a reasonable price? I'm building a parts list up for next Summer when I hopefully start working on the MJ again. The steering/front suspension is one thing which will be getting an overhaul. I have a bunch of play in the steering with some wheel shimmy. All of my bushings are shot from where I drove with DW before I changed the ball joints. I would prefer to eliminate the TRE on the trac bar, but I don't want to lift over 2" and want to stay at stock height until my new 235's wear out. Does anyone make a stock height double shear trac-bar? -
Very true! Was hoping to get a quick answer. Hate making an entire thread for something I'm sure is a quick discussion. Off to the tech section, sorry :D

Anyone know how I can make a double shear trac bar work on stock height? I plan to go to 2" one day. But will be at stock height when I do the steering overhaul. Trac bar will be changed with the overhaul because of the play in it. And brand new Moog WJ upper and lower control arms! :D

Update. Not even a month has passed and I'm already making up a list of parts I will be changing along with the transmission. Just can't go long without needing to research Jeep parts... love the Manche to much. If all goes as planned next summer the MJ will be getting an entire steering overhaul with a 3.55 geared c8.25 with disk brakes (eventually will get the front axle to allow me to use 4x4 again). And an external slave ax-15 of course. The tranny swap will be quite easy this time around since the pilot bearing is already changed and the clutch is aligned already. Needless to say I'm very excited for next summer.

I would absolutely LOVE to get a Miata. That or a BMW 318i is the sporty car that I would like to have. If a good one showed up in a lot, I would definitely grab it. Just depends on what I find when I go shopping.

If I didn't need 25+ MPG then I would definitely be getting another Jeep. Either Cherokee or Liberty. I appreciate the offer on the Taurus. I really need to find something local with a warranty just in case. Going to more lots Saturday since I have more of a budget now :D

Sheesh. A transmission going out at that low miles? That must of sucked!
-
Dang. That's a great price. But sadly like I expected I can't afford the cheapest insurance option on top of a loan payment for the extra 4k I don't have saved :/ being 18, male, and not married really sucks when it comes down to insurance prices.

it's a bit new. But what state are you in?

Glad I could pitch in this year :D

Well guys. I officially have been blessed. I now am looking for a newer car to make payments on because I can afford them soon! I've been at the local Winn Dixie for a year next month. I started off part time and moved to full time making 10.45 about four months ago. I went through HELL being the full time nightshifter that stocks the entire frozen section, so I didn't plan to keep this job. Which us why I did not want to make payments on a car. But recently a Publix has been built in town and my brother got a job there and said it's amazing. Long story made shorter, Publix made me an offer of full time and a slight raise for good measures. I plan to stay there and move up for awhile if it's as good as my brother says. So I will be heading around used dealerships looking for a nice hatchback (preferably stickshift). Anyone have experience with hatchbacks and can recommend any from mid 90's to mid 2000's? :D

^ I've been meaning to do that exact thing and look around for that reason. But it's hard when I don't have my own transportation haha. Might be able to tomorrow. I'm hoping, at least!

Every time I've done it I just opened the bleeder and gravity bled a whole bottle of fluid through it. Worked great for me! Probably would be quicker to have someone press the pedal... But my friends don't like working on vehicles, so I'm alone most of the time :D

I'm taking it to a shop before I buy it and having them check everything, such as compression. Not wanting to risk anything. But the Sentra my mother has has pretty much the same engine in it I think and it's indestructable...

The Honda has about 180k on it I would think. He said he bought it a year ago to drive back and forth to work and college and the odometer quit shortly after 169k. Has a one year old clutch. Reason for selling is he bought a newer car. Doesn't sound like it's been driven that rough at all, at least since he' had it. He's done regular maintenance perfectly on time he said.

I actually do drive a bunch. 25 miles one way just for work and I should start school soon which is further. I would love to have a Cherokee, but I just havent had good luck with Jeeps lately and want something different to drive for work. I'm currently sitting on the trunk of my moms Sentra waiting for a tow truck to get my moms Liberty which the starter that burnt out... I love how much response I get even on situations that don't involve Jeeps :D http://gadsden.craigslist.org/cto/5244279991.html Hate that it's a Kia. But love the mileage and miles on it. http://gadsden.craigslist.org/cto/5229568046.html That's what I REALLY want to get. But, the high miles on it is to risky for me. I love BMW's and always have wanted a small stickshift hatchback.

Hmm, I may actually look more into it then. Everywhere I looked said the 2.2 was way underpowered
