Rebuilding the stock engine makes the most sense to me. Both in terms of work required and reasonable expense/bang for the buck. Looking for more power out of the 2.5? I would look at a supercharger. But that would put your $$ cost right back to what you would spend for a EcoTech factory turbo engine. And with the factory EcoTech turbo, all the engineering has been done by the factory.

Man, you are the Devil!!! Been thinking about a winter trip to the Detroit Auto Show in late January with a possible side trip to upper Michigan if the weather was not too bad. Would have to get the truck from upper Michigan to Indiana. How far are you from the Mackanak Bridge? Maybe 600 miles? -

Long time and no update for a good reason... Truck is still in Michigan and I simply have not had the time to go back and get it home. Now with winter weather started - No Way is this California boy going to pick it up in the snow and cold weather. For one thing, the heater fan does not work. It has power, but will not run. So right now it looks like I will not get it home till next March/April. Unless I decide to have the truck shipped home for about $1200 from northern Michigan to San Diego. -

The cluster in the picture is 1986/87 style speedometer face. Notice the sweep for 7:00 to 4:00? The eBay cluster is a late 87+ to 1990 style. Notice the 9:00 to 4:00 sweep? 1986 had a different speedometer cable connection to the speedometer. I can not tell you if the pictured cluster is 86 or 87. That sweep was offered with both speedometer cables -
That makes a whole lot of sense. We those retailer specific model #s all the time with lots of stuff like appliances and mattresses - .

Copy/paste shows up just fine. Is that the THIRD different part number type for the Comanche Visor? Thinking first one was AP2/AP3 type number. Second one was 190XX type number. Now this 12001 number?

No permission to view. Tried the phone with Chrome, Lap Top with Chrome, Laptop with Firefox, both signed in and not signed in. All in the last 10 minutes. Still No permission. First time I have had this issue. Next I will try to use the search function for the "12001" part number and see what happens. Just tried - your 2015 post does not show up. Question? Don't sold posts get "hidden" so they do not show up ????? That would explain why Don can find his old post but the rest of us can not see it. Don: Why not try to copy and past from your old post - Bet that will work.

X2 Agree with you about working with krustyballer16. Krusty built a rear bumper and tire carrier for me last year, he was great at responding to questions and requests. One thing I suggest - get the sliders powder coated - not painted. I used good quality primer and paint on the bumper/tire carrier, but last winter rains started some surface rust on the bumper. So I had it sand blasted and powder coated 5 months ago.

This makes so much sense to me. Why change it if it is not broke?? -
The correct Cherokee and Comanche part numbers are in post #8 of this thread: I found it by using the search function for "Lund Visor" here on the Comanche Club. Using Google search for "Comanche Lund Visor Part Number" will get you some pictures that may help you even more.

Melted Wiring Harness
johnj92131 replied to pfloyd32086's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Clean each and every connection as you go as you replace the harness. One other thing you need to do when you replace the harness: Do all of Cruiser54's Renix electrical fixes. http://cruiser54.com/ -

You really need to figure out WHY the harness melted. That is the real problem! Repairing/Replacing the damaged wires should come after you fix the real problem. -
Genssi 80W CREE LED White 1156 Reverse Lights
johnj92131 replied to HOrnbrod's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Trucklites work great and don't bother other drivers. A smart choice. Have both the Trucklites and the LED reverse lights installed. Very pleased with both. -

Bo, Nice pictures! Last weekend was great weather in the desert. I spent the weekend in Palm Springs. Not so much water there but lots of air conditioned stores, shops, places to eat. But it is hard to beat the river water on a hot day for cooling off. -
Swampy, I had a similar issue going from an AX5 to AX15. Check out this thread and see the diagram Don posted: Item # 25 was what I needed that was different from the AX5 to the AX15 transmission. Bet you have the same problem.

I also have a set of Trucklites. Last year I made 2 coast to coast round trips in the Comanche. The Trucklites performed very well on the open road. Good forward vision and nice, tight beam pattern. Got very few flashes from people on the other lane of the freeways. There are lots of high powered lights out there on other cars. IMHO, most of them have very poor beam patterns. Trucklites are worth the money to me. -
Seems to me that the rules for radio antennas have not change over the Years. The length of the antenna for FM frequencies is still the same as it was long before we humans knew about radio. What does change over time is the condition of the equipment we use and some of the software our radios use. Over time, old equipment degrades. In part due to age and in part due to oxidation. For example, I have a military purpose 1955 built Collins r-390a receiver that was totally overhauled and renewed a few years ago. It still performs at near the theoretical noise floor for a high frequency receiver. For those of you who remember the Pueblo incident in North Korea - the Collins R-390A were some of the classified equipment on board that ship. And for the Apollo Project, a number of these old R-390A receivers were totally rebuilt. Finally, for the first Gulf War in 1990, these old Tube radios were placed back in service on a number of Navy ships, because of static issues with later solid state replacements. What I am trying to say is that cleaning up and restoring old equipment with high quality parts makes a whole lot of sense. It is just time consuming and requires attention to small details. Modern stuff is built so as not to be servicable. That is great when it works, but when something minor goes wrong - well toss it and buy a new one. Cheap Chinese C.R.A.P. makes this almost reasonable. Lastly, about Chinese quality. How many of you younger guys ever heard of "Made In Japan" quality issues? You may find it hard to understand that "Made In Japan" was once the same as C.R.A.P. The VCR was invented by an American Company - AMPEX- but how many of you know that? The first successful VCR was a SONY in the Late 1960's. One of my high school buddies had a Sony VCR to record the 1969 Apollo 11 moon landing. Sorry for the long blurb.
