I run ProComp ES9000's on my Ram, our YJ and the MJ and have been very happy.

ABSOLUTELY!!!!!! X10000 Great stuff. I put a can of it in my vehicles every oil change which is at about every 8000 miles for me using AMSOIL.

How are you recharging the system? Do you have the proper equipment or are you just trying to hook up a can of freon and pump it in? Don't mean to insult you if you are experienced, but this info will help get a more informed answer from us. ;)

This is the primary reason that I really enjoy coming to this site. People "talk" about things... Most other sites that this conversation has been on (which is most any Jeep site), it always ends up in the lunacy of arguing on the Internet. I see and understand exactly what you are saying and will not dispute that it makes complete sense.

I guess this will be a point of strong disagreement for me then ;) . I have repaired DW issues many times when I worked in a 4x4 shop by tightening and/or replacing track bars or control arms/bushings. I would venture and estimate of 85% of the DW that I have cured was caused by steering/suspension components. The rest were balance or other wheel/tire related issues. I only have about half the years in as Eagle, but this has been my experience  .

Since it's only while stopped, I would tend to think that it's a problem with the torque converter or the front pump in the tranny since all other tranny parts would be motionless at that point. I am not an tranny expert by any means so this is just what it sounds like to be possible to me. ;)

Tire & wheel issues can definitely contribute to the problem, but there would be a constant vibration at any speed if that was the direct cause in my experience. A vibe from bent wheels, bad tires, balance issues etc... will cause tie rods, track bars & control arms to go bad and therefore ultimately you end up with DW. Do as Chico says and rule that out or replace as needed  .

Project: The Duke - 56K warning - NEW PARTS 8/04
BLHTAZ replied to Phoenix of Fury's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
I use the ES9000's on all three of our vehicles and love them. You did good by avoiding the boots as the stories you have heard are true. Boots are for looking pretty, but for a truck being used as they will collect water, mud etc... and just damage the shock. -
Balance is a slim possibility as most spin balancers out there are only capable of balancing up to about 60...maybe 65 MPH. Anything beyond that, your on your own. DW is primarily caused by one or more of three things... Track Bar, Control Arms (UCA and/or LCA) or Tie Rod Ends. Ball joints can be a contributor, but they are not usually the primary source. If a ball joints wobbled enough to be the only cause of DW, the wheel would fall off when it happened. Shocks and the steering stabilizer are not possible causes of DW. A good strong stabilizer can minimze the effects somewhat, but it will never be the cause and shocks have nothing to do with it at all.

X2 Find a donor 4X4 and get the front axle, tranny, t-case and all the mounting hardware such as cross member etc... Not a terribly difficult job if you have a decent mechanical aptitude.

Belt squealing ... finally found the problem
BLHTAZ replied to BLHTAZ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Well... :headpop: I went out this morning and fired it up and guess what...sqeek, sqeek, sqeek... This was the first cold morning (56*) we have had in a while and that's when it always does it. It's a very small squeal, but it's there and it is really irritating me. It goes away as soon as the engine warms up just as before though. It's coming from the water pump pulley as far as I can tell so maybe I need to try replacing that next... :dunno: I am gonna try sticking the puller on the PS pulley again and pulling it out about another 1/8" or so as it looks like I may have pushed it on a touch too far. -
Engine wont run--->ALL FIXED!!!
BLHTAZ replied to offroader461's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
X2 Not the most common way for one to go out, but I have heard that exact same story a couple times now and it has been the CPS. -
As Pete mentioned...shackles are NOT a good thing to do. They have many more detrimental effects than positive. The better idea is to wait a little longer, save a little more money and do it the right way with some new springs. Even thought the ride quality sucks, I would rather see you put in some add-a-leafs rather than do shackles. If you are only looking for minimal lift and a temporary solution, the short AAL's will do it instead of using the long ones that will lift it 3" and be VERY stiff riding. ;)

:agree: The information above is good, I just wanted to confirm that the he is correct in the fact that the front doors from a 4 door XJ will fit as I had to do it on mine ;) . Start a thread in the project forum when you get rolling with it so we can watch. :D

Here's a couple that I did. I know they are cheesy, but it's quick idea that I am sure someone with better skills can make better if chosen to use. I don't know how detailed that a pic can be for something like this so it may be a good idea to add an example of previous work to the thread so owe know what can be done.

Belt squealing ... finally found the problem
BLHTAZ replied to BLHTAZ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I still have a bit of scepticism in me, but I am trying to be positive. The sqealing was pretty bad and all I did was change a pulley this time...not the belt. Every other time I made a change I installed a new belt too so we'll see. It gets expensive with the belts being $30 - $35 each... -
Okay, so this may paint our southern brothers in a bit of a tainted light, but you just might laugh too. Are you a Democrat, a Republican, or a Southerner? Here is a little test that will help you decide. The answer can be found by posing the following question: You're walking down a deserted street with your wife and two small children. Suddenly, an Islamic Terrorist with a huge knife comes around the corner, locks eyes with you, screams obscenities, praises Allah, raises the knife, and charges at you. You are carrying a Kimber 1911 cal. 45 ACP, and you are an expert shot. You have mere seconds before he reaches you and your family. What do you do? ................ THINK CAREFULLY AND THEN SCROLL DOWN: ................ Democrat's Answer: Well, that's not enough information to answer the question! Does the man look poor or oppressed? Have I ever done anything to him that would inspire him to attack? Could we run away? What does my wife think? What about the kids? Could I possibly swing the gun like a club and knock the knife out of his hand? What does the law say about this situation? Does the weapon have appropriate safety built into it? Why am I carrying a loaded gun anyway, and what kind of message does this send to society and to my children? Should I call 9-1-1? Why is this street so deserted? We need to raise taxes, have paint and weed day and make this happier, healthier street that would discourage such behavior. This is all so confusing! I need to debate this with some friends for few days and try to come to a consensus. ............................. Republican's Answer: BANG! ............................. Southerner's Answer: BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! Click..... (Sounds of reloading) BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! BANG! Click Daughter: "Nice grouping, Daddy! Were those the Winchester Silver Tips or Hollow Points?" Son: "Can I shoot the next one!" Wife: "You ain't taking that to the Taxidermist."

I have never heard of a break in for a dryer...BUT, then again...I really have no in depth knowledge of dryers either :chillin: I voted "can't believe" ;)

8) Cool...thank you

Mine did the same thing. Cleaning them did not help. I replaced the front sockets and all was good. I was able to match up the sockets at Auto Zone.

Someone try this link and let me know if it works please. I got it off of the Chrysler site that I have access to as an employee so I am not sure it it will work for everyone. If you can see it...page 5 gives the process for updating the VIN and programming. http://starparts.chrysler.com/info/default/k6869436.pdf djag12 - I will be happy to do the update to your VIN for you as soon as you can send it to me. If you can access this file you should print page 5 and take it to a dealer if they can't figure it out. ;)

THe Most repeditive question
BLHTAZ replied to fatcat0491's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I ran in to the same issue, but I got lucky and found an MJ in the JY and it had buckets. They are in bad shape, but I installed them and put slip covers on them for now until I get around to having them recovered. ;) XJ's are all over in salvage so you shuold be able to find some without a lot of trouble. -
THe Most repeditive question
BLHTAZ replied to fatcat0491's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
As far as I remember, the complete seat frame itself is different for the rocker type so that will be a problem. -
Ever since I bought the MJ about 14 - 15 months ago now, it has had a terrible belt squealing problem. I have put 4 new belts on it and with every new belt it would quiet down for a couple weeks and then start again. At one point I found the lower radiator hose was leaking just a little bit and it was going right on the belt so I thought that was the problem. I replaced the hose, put on another new belt, but the noise came back again. I replaced the water pump, the idler pulley and yeat another belt, but the noise still came back. I just gave up on it after that and have lived with it for several months now as it would only make noise in the morning when first started and the noise went away in just a few miles when the engine got hot. Well...while working on it the other day, I noticed a slight wobble in the power steering pulley so I took a closer look. It appears the it has been changed before, but obviously not with the correct tools. It looked more like someone used a hammer to install it so it was bent and out of line. I purchased a new pulley, borrowed the puller and installer tools from a tech at work and repalced the pulley this weekend while waiting for the paint on the new bumper to dry and... ...WAHLAH...!!! No more belt sqealing!! :clapping: :D

Chrysler not making O2 sensor anymore?
BLHTAZ replied to Tonedef131's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
It is possible as I have seen a few recalls that have "timed out". Can you tell me the recall number and I will see if I can get any info for you as I work at a Jeep Dealership in parts.
