  1. I don't get it much either, but to claim it takes no skill is ridiculous ;)
  2. Guess I'm lucky...I've got a bedliner that fits perfectly and even says comanche on it
  3. Wish my area of florida had your pricing :brows: Everything is ridiculous around here
  4. Were those rear speakers optional? I see the covers for them, but upon removal there was nothing there and last I check, no wires were there, either.
  5. No kits are available for the MJ as far as I know. What you need to do is order the muffler of your choice and as mentioned take it to a respectable muffler shape and have them fab up either a larger diameter pipe (2.5" at most) or you could just have them install the muffler and reuse the stock pipe. Just make sure you order the right inlet/outlet size. Stock tail pipe is 2.25"
  6. Any comanche specific part is in very high demand..even such simple things like emblems and side vents, so if you are ever getting rid of anything make sure to ask here first or craigslist it
  7. dibbs.....dibbs! I'm only a "few" miles north of him so I may get to it first :brows:
  8. ... it's been said, but not by me, that it's not strong enough. 89eliminator is correct. x2. I'm far from a good welder, but those are not safe welds at all. I would keep practicing on some spare steel until you can get a better quality weld for it. Or you can go the fastest, safest and and most efficient route; have a professional do it. You mean there are people you can pay that know how to weld? :shake: I know, I was almost as excited about that as I was when I learned about sliced bread :chillin:

  10. As mentioned, a TopGear episode, I believe it was an old Suzuki that had the exact paint scheme. Not a Jeep I know, but that's a good thing because it looked...well, barbie and ken. ;) Relax though, we are all just poking fun :chillin: As far as the bumper goes, great job regardless of the color
  11. Eagle, since you are the first person I've talked to that has used the gabriels on a Jeep, let alone an MJ, what was your opinion on their performance? I've only been able to compare them to stock, but that isn't saying much.
  12. Thanks for the reply. No lift at all as far as I know. Ah OME's, heard good things about them too, but how do they fair for handling, and do they have them for stock height?
  13. Hey all and thanks for taking the time out to read my thread! So....I'm running a set of Gabriel Ryder LT "VST" technology shocks which have been pretty good to me over the past two years, however I'm looking into replacing them. Now I know XJ front shocks will work, and I've heard nothing but amazing things on bilsteins. However, for the life of me I can't find any that will fit the rear of a comanche. In fact, rear shocks are extremely limited in comparison. So what gives? Is it just the length difference between XJ rears and MJ rears, or is there something more to it? My comanche see's 99% street use, and preferably I'd like shocks that are more orientated towards performance handling. I do go occasionally offroad, but it is mostly light sand trails. The VST's in comparison to the stockers are a good improvement in both comfort, handling and off-road potential, so I would go with them again if worst came to worst. What do you guys suggest running? Another one besides the bilsteins that I've heard good things about is the eibach IAS shocks but again, I can't find them anywhere for a comanche. So is there anything performance wise out there for the MJ? Thanks for any info!
  14. No offense intended, but that is really ghey. But whatever floats your boat
  15. Not to sound rude here lead, but isn't it kind of odd that that tech article is exactly the same as on Dino's page. I think you could at least take off the false "Copyright © Great Lakes XJ " because it is clearly not original to the site. Now, if you can prove otherwise I would gladly take back my words. :brows: Dino's page for comparison; http://www.jeep4.0performance.4mg.com/tech_specs.html
  16. I thought a 12 Second Quarter Mile was pretty solid for what it was running... That's a fairly heavily modified one, though (engine swap, or extensive mods to the 2.8v6 ). Don't get me wrong here, I love fiero's and as I said almost picked one up; but bone stock they are far from what I would consider fast.
  17. Not trying to sound rude here, as I almost picked up a fiero myself but to call one quick it's well, just not right. Those things are far from fast...Fun yes, fast no.
  18. I did a photoshop of my comanche a while back, so here is a before and after set of shots for reference. BEFORE (as it is now): AFTER:
  19. Actually the 04's were putting down 230hp/250+ftlbs of torque Also, a neon is a lot more aerodynamic than a brick on a wheels :brows: Don't forget that the 4 cylinder is a bit lighter. Not like I'd recommend the motor in a comanche, but it sure was fun in my brothers SRT-4.
  20. So did that mean the 87-89 models had more stopping power out back? Sorry, complete brake noob here. And not to take this far off topic... But I've been wanting to get some higher quality brake pads up front and was looking at Hawk pads and other good ones. However, they all state 90+ cherokee/comanche. I'm running an 88.... What is the differences up front that justify that? Is it an easy swap? Sorry for all the questions, but I've never owned any Jeep newer than the '88 I've got now and the '87 I had.
  21. I did this to repaint them, but when pladed back on, the seal isn't as nearly as strong. Is there a way to remedy this? I really don't want to see my vent covers going flying off on the highway
  22. Yup, the mileage is right around where it should be for your setup. I drive about 3 miles round trip to work and back (I need to just start biking/walking, but then the jeep wouldn't get much use besides the occasion running around) and I average around 13.5mpg.
  23. If you know how to properly handle it of course. I've had my back end out on the manche on a rainy day once coming out of a u-turn, wasn't expecting and countered accordingly without wrecking (almost $#!& myself, though). I wonder how much a rear sway bar would have thrown the back out in that situation, in comparison to no rear sway bar?
  24. Yea, you can pickup a Dynomax Super Turbo muffler with a 2.25" in/out diameter for about 45 bucks from Jegs.com I've heard only good things about it, and it doesn't have that nasty flowmaster drone. Just slightly louder than stock with a nice grumble, but when you get on it, you know it's not a stock system. Not over the top by any means though. Performance numbers have been proven as well and just running a free flowing muffler and cat without 2.5" piping won't result in low end torque loss. :D I'll be picking up a setup like that soon
  25. Very nice work so far! So you managed to drop it roughly 3"? I was always told that max you could do is 1.5"-2" up front as it would hit the oil pan otherwise? I have a thread over on jeepforum about lowering my '88 and this threads been useful so far, so keep up the great work! 17's are perfect for a street manche as well.
