    plow truck!

That statement doesn't make much sense in response to the question of cost. So I'll re-phrase it. WTF you think its worth? Now I ask that question out of inquisitiveness not out of a desire to know if I can afford it, which you pointed out that I can't. Possibly in snow country it has a higher value than it would here where I live where it would be best used for pushing cow dung out of the soggy barn.

    Cost?????????
  3. My old 89 Cheriokee with limited slip in front and rear acted that way when I stomped the throttle in loose gravel. Kinda liked ratched torque from wheel to wheel until it got moving at a good pace.
  4. Door trim on & then the B pillar. The bracket in lower middle of back cab is for the jack handle retining clip. The bracket protrudes through the back panel I think.
  5. I pulled the intermediate shaft with good u joints out of an 86 MJ and swapped the entire shaft into my 89. Fit like a glove.
  6. Okay, so you found the park position. Now what would happen if you removed the arms and placed them in the horizontal position at the bottom of the windshield where they normally rest when in off position? Would they move through their cycle as intended and then park in the proper position when turned off?
  7. Check your intermediate steering shaft linkage for worn out u joints also. Theres one on each end. If their both worn out you'll get a lot of slop. Hold your shaft, no not that one - the other one, with your hand and have some one rock the steering wheel back and forth. Any play will be noticed if there is movemen in one piece before the other begins to move. Same with the steering gear. If the input shaft makes any movement before the pitman arm moves you have worn parts in the gear.
  8. Looks like LA ghetto machine or Indianapolis westside.
  9. With oil changes at every aprox 2084 miles that engine should be clean. I would have done it only about 65 times, saved some maintenance expenses. Averaged 44.6k per tire change, not bad. But, like he said "where the pics"!
  10. What did the kids say when he came home with the easter bunnys ears?

Nice truck but to much dollar for me. http://portland.craigslist.org/mlt/cto/1666194659.html
  12. Finally, after more than a year of driving with a speedometer out of sync do to oversize (235's) tires I changed the speedo gear to a 33 tooth and its fairly close to accurate readings now.
  13. The Cadillac Catera built from 97-02 was a rebadged Opel Omega. It was prone to self destruct in a preprogrammed manner with periodic elec & engine problems. It was a piece of S--- from the git-go. The 1st thing to go was the oil cooler stuck down in the valley, then any of numerous electrical issuses. then chassis steering parts. Replacement parts were extremely expensive and hard to obtain. It just never ended on mine and thousands of others. It was a blast to brive when everything was working right. However, GM discontinued it because of alll the unfavorable issuses that existed with it. The CTS was brought out to fill the niche the Cateras were suppose to fit into.
  14. I would suggest that no matter what you select check as many forums on that particular vehicle as you can find. If she wants luxury then you have already ruled out Toyots, Nissan, and similiar cars. They just don't have the ride quality or interior quiteness of higer level luxury. My wife has owned 5 or 6 Cadillacs and liked them all. The Devilles were big quite boats, the ElDorado was a road eating beast, the early CTS was neither of those as it was a little noiser inside, less power, and not as reliable (V6 isusses). But Cadillac Forum should provide some enlightenment .
  15. Do you have an open or closed cooling system. Could be an old deteriorated hose or rusted out spring in hose. Maybe your cap is shot.
  16. Finally found someone who wanted the 86 cab & chassis. Pic of it going away to recycler. Image Not Found
  17. Pulled the bent & twisted bumper off the 86 MJ & removed the frame brackets & then cut the center cross bracket loose from the bumper. So I now have a full set of spare brackets for an OEM MJ bumper. Image Not Found
  18. Yup long bed is the same.
  19. Sometime last year I went in 5 minutes early on my apt and sat there for 45 minutes. Had to pick up the wife across town in 20 minutes so I left. Called the next day for a new apt and was told I had missed my apt the day before. I told her "No I didn't, I was there 5 minutes early and sat for 45, the doctor missed the apt". I got an apt for 2 days later instead of the usual 3 months later. When I went in this time I only waited a few minutes to see the doctor. He says I must have been pretty busy the other day, sorry. But, its all for naught, the next time it will be back to the usual Sit & Wait.
  20. Guess no expert advice available. So my 2c, look for loose wire, blown fuse, bang the dash, kick the gas tank, etc. Haven't experienced that problem myself.

    Crusher Time

Offered it free to any taker willing to haul it off but no one around here it seems needs an 86 cab & chasis so it going to scrap yard in next day or so. Nearly rust free and has a 4:11 under it. Had the bed up for sale also, but only bites I got were from people with extremely limited funds, the "I got twenty bucks and some old wheels to trade" sort of thing. It's in excellent shape so I've decided to cut a section out of the front and rear and transform it into a double bobbed trailer. Gonna hang on to the black interior parts a while longer and see what happens with them. Image Not Found
