  1. Awesome! I like how the red matches the stripe on the side of the truck... way to coordinate!
  2. ZJ rears work awesome too. From a Dana 35 to another 35, they bolt right on. But from a 35 to a 44 or a Chrysler 8 1/4, the center hole needs to opened up about an 1/8" all the way around. Not sure on the AMC 20, but maybe another route to look into.
  3. Because I haven't gotten to the bed liner yet! I figure it's just going to get covered anyhow, so why? Soon enough it won't even matter.
  4. OH MY GOD!!! I had the same thing happen to me when I was 6! Under my parent's deck, birds always make their nest under the boards. We'd always look between them to check on the eggs... until one day! NEVER AGAIN!
  5. Thanks everyone!... but I really should be honest. The color hides a lot of little dents still on the truck. I didn't take too much time straightening the panels just because I wanted a nice truck... but not too nice! I still plan to use it as a truck, so a few dents won't make the future dents emotionally feel so bad. Overall, I'd call it a good "ten foot" truck.
  6. Can't believe I never found this until now... I'm Ben! I'm in central MN and I teach Welding Technology at the same school I went to four years ago. Been married since June 2nd, 2007 to this awesome chick I've known since 5th grade. I fill my time with silly little projects that always seam to drag on way too long (like my truck), but always come together at the last minute. I play bass: been in and out of a few bands for years... sometimes kilted, sometimes not. I totally dig classic Volkswagens being it my 1972 Beetle, or I've got a fiberglass dune buggy in the works... someday (I've had the body for years now). Anyhow, that's me. Four years ago in college: Beetle stuff: Other stuff: In the band: Wedding... how's that for a unity candle?: Oldest picture known of my truck:
  7. Clean fabrication, perfect color, and constant inspiration for my own truck! Nice job on the build and a well deserving Comanche of the Month!
  8. Thank again! I took Saturday to take down "Dexter's kill room" (anyone watch Dexter on Showtime?) so I could have my shop somewhat back to normal... minus the piles of truck in each corner. I tried to start it without any luck... dead battery. Okay, just push it out and jump it with the car later. Sounds easy enough... NO! What a prime time for the fuel pump to die! Checked everything... power going to the pump with the key on, just no fuel pumping action. What a downer for sure! I did take a few pictures with it out of the shop... but it was dreary and cloudy outside. Got all the plastic down and folded up so I could start throwing some parts at it. Forgot to paint some stuff... I'll get those later (grill, fuel filler door... little stuff). Got a good look at the dented corner too... really happy with how it turned out! Body filler? Who needs body filler when you've got bed liner! More next weekend after I hang an exhaust under the wife's car... why is it that working on vehicles is only fun when you don't necessarily need to?
  9. Hung doors and put the new bed on the frame.
  10. Didn't get quite as far as I'd hoped today. Seams as though i couldn't find anyone to help out with hanging the doors... those are a PITA by yourself! Still moving forward though. I also took the cowl out from under my shop lights to see the real color, 1988 "flash red".
  11. Originally, instead of silver and bedliner, it was one big decal that was silver and faded to black and finished short of the rocker panel leaving it red. Instead of all that, I'm just going with the individual stripes above the silver belt line.
  12. Yup! I've got a factory deal kit that'll go back on it, "ELIMINATOR" and all! All of the rubber trim below the silver will go back too. I like the look of all the Eliminator stripes and everything color matched... except the fender flares. On my truck, the flares have been replaced at some time and have always been black as long as I've owned it. I like it, and with the additional black on the rockers, red flares would just look too much I think. The bumpers will be black too so, in my head, I kinda like the black on red look... besides... there's already an awesome all-red Eliminator floating around this site! Thanks everybody! Can't wait to keep working on this little truck!
  13. Went out to the shop after work today to visit the truck. Reassembly starts Friday!
  14. Pained stripes and put on some bed liner
  15. Bed liner on body panels... I'm going to wait on the box floor until it's back on the frame. I turned off the flash for this one in hopes that the picture would show the actual color of the truck...
  16. Nice score on the roll bar! Really gives it that "Tonka" look!
  17. Silver stripes are painted... now just waiting for that to dry to I can put on some bed liner!
  18. You and me both!
  19. I like it! Leave it black too!
  20. Bear with me... the flash on the camera kinda messes with the actual color of the truck. The red of the over spray on the floor matches what the truck really looks like. Next is to paint my silver stripe to match the factory decal kit I have, add some bed liner from the lowest body line down, clean up my shop, and start putting this little truck back together!
  21. FOR REAL THIS TIME!!!... without the runs. I'm super excited how it turned out... I literally just got done painting so I'll let it all settle down and go out a snap some pictures. :rock on:
  22. Kevins Offroad... awesome track bar: http://kevinsoffroad.com/jkstrackbars.html
  23. The door idea is kinda cool! Whatever happened to with the lower corners of your pickup box?
