overwhelming exhaust smell (updated 10-7-14)
Zebvance replied to Zebvance's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I just put new coil, rotor, distributor, cap, plugs, and wires in it this weekend. still smells rich. has better throttle response but some times when I hammer is while driving it fills sluggish at first and then picks up.... some what like bogging down but maybe that might be the wrong way of describing it. I have never replaced the Tps( which does stick some times) or the Map sensor. Will a ban map sensor cause it to run rich? should I try to go ahead and replace those? -
Depending on the temp and mine idles between 650-900

Added!!! No wonder I never see Comanches around me! 1 of 2 in Texas and the other guy might as we'll be in colorado.

When I start up my mj and idle it (because it doesn't move much now adays) its overwhelmingly potent. I "think" its running rich. I get about 12-14 mpg on highway. New Fuel filter , New Fuel pressure regulator, 4 hole neon injectors. I have the stock 1988 renix 4.0 (106,000) auto 4x4 with 32's, 4.10's. I have some bolt ons. Running a pacesetter header with a new O2 sensor high flow cat and magnaflow muffler. 2.5 inch exhaust from header back. Also Egr is blocked off. Runs pretty good untill I get to 1/8 tank and you hit the gas and it hesitates real bad like it has no gas or its dirty.

1988 Jeep Comanche Aka The Penny Sniffer ,pic Heavy
Zebvance replied to Zebvance's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
I think it is a good looking vehicle for a dd. Plus if I can get it with front and rear diff locks( which is fairly rare) it will be icing on the cake. Planis to throw some nice tires on it and rock it. looks like I can get one with about 50k for 28k. It will come with the 5.3 a trusted vortec.... -

Nothing new to mention about the mj right now. Have been hitting the books hard and will be graduating in about a week. In the mean time I have been looking to trade in my 2008 ford fusion as soon as I get a job for a H3T. What do yall think. I am not considering anything less than the V8 option. They are hard to find and have been looking for the past year. -

Good Grounding Point In The Back Of The Cab?
Zebvance replied to Zebvance's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Grounds for amps are suppose to be no longer than 3 feet. If you run it that far I would double the wire size. I'm going to try the seat -
exactly what I was just looking at...

WOW, never did I think a cc member would do that...

Help A Girl Tackle A Sbc Swap. Pleasee
Zebvance replied to MissManche88's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Forgot to mention I have seen it done before (sbc in a mj). It was a tubed out mj crawler. To keep it cool he piped the radiator to sit on the tube frame behind the cab and had electric fans on it. Like a lot of pre runner rigs do if you are familiar with them. Could you imagine trying to burp that system?!?!? It was a Sweet rig though -

As stated before Cooling is going to be a major problem. Simply not enough room for enough cooling. You will be spending $500+ on a custom made radiator to keep up not to mention throwing upwards of 8000 cfm in electric fans to push all the hot air out. I have a buddy that was going to throw a ZZ4 he had with a TH350 into a 98 Wrangler. He found a novak adapter on craigslist to mate the th350 to the np231. Long story short his TJ was so rusted he decided to ditch it and traded it for a boat. He still has the adapter and Two Th350s and he is trying to sell them right now. I think he wants like 200 for the adapter. Which I think Is pretty goo considering they are like $600.00 new if I recall right. -
I would install ac into my 88 Mj but I don't want to deal with having to take the dash off...
-
Nice I'll have to check that out. I'll prolly borrow my fathers jk out there. The lady friend isn't going to like a 10 hour drive I'm the mj with no AC. Not to mention I'm not going to enjoy getting 12mpg with the mj either.
