  1. do the airsoft balancing. but don't throw a bag in the tire. just put the specified ammount in for your tire size (theyre is a chart i just havent saved the link for it yet). you can use a peice of hose to put them in the tire once you break the bead (it just makes it easier). then fill it back up and your good to go. i have that with my hawgs and they only start taking effect around 25mph wich works just fine.
  2. oh haha well my truck is legal in texas i just put it on there so i wouldnt get bothered... iam sure not havin one wouldnt have hurt but i didnt wanna chance it, and iam runnin SOA on the 8.8 so iam guessin 7" of lift? or so soa and 34's is legal. long as you have flares covering the tires, headlights at legal height and the bumper a legal height your good. and soa with the 8.8 will not net you 7in of lift. you have more like 5in of lift. oh and ya need a rear bumper cops can get you for that. a guy in my local club got pulled over for that (no rear bumper and the class3 trailer hitch don't cut it aparently).
  3. good to hear your cutting and fitting the wires to make a professional job. it takes a bit longer but is worth so worth it in the end. keep the good job up!
  4. long as he had a welding hood on ;) .
  5. looks like ya got the job done on the axle but... how to put this. your fist dozen or so welds should be on scrap steel and should have a friend that allready knows how to weld directing you on do's & don't's and how to make a proper and strong weld. this is why i said that. plz take this as help and don't be offended. i weld everyday and have seen trailers and numbers of vehicle parts that have been welded on crack and break off due to these weld defects your weld has and others. the welds on the mount need to be strong (explanation why shouldnt be necessary). from the pic of your weld i can see porosity. thats air trapped inside the weld and is a major weld defect as the weld will easily crack with it. you don't have undercut on the weld and you have multiple restarts on the weld, so you were probly on the low heat range for the rod which helps get rid of undercut but can also cause incomplete fusion of the weld metal and base metal. oh and if you didnt grind the axle tube well to where theyres no paint were you will be welding, you will have porosity and sometimes bits of paint in the weld. i can't tell from the pic if you grinded it or not but if you did then thats a big help towards a stong weld.
  6. well my 87 has 10 but count yours again. you got 8. but it don't matter cause both look really good.
  7. uhhh new exhause is nice but i liked the stock sound better. i had a flowcrapper on my tj then ripped it off after about 2weeks with it on. stock muffler or straight pipe is the way to go for 4.0 exhaust.
  8. your mj stands out nicely among the usual wrangler. makes the mj look better and better :D .
  9. mmmmmm....... krawlers. hope theyre only goin offroad. theyre street tread life is poor but they are proven offroad (id get em but I'm too poor). did you do the tube work or did ya get someone to do it for ya?
  10. if those are sahara TJ seats then thats gonna be one comfy rig. the mounting holes are different i beleive but for height ya should just take some measurements.
  11. to run 35's on lift alone id say 8in. but 6in with TJ flare conversion will work just as well if not a tad better due to the lower cog. i currently have my 34's still on with 8in lift and at full flex i have bout 1/2 an in till the tires rub. so 35's with correct bump stops installed should work out great.
  12. theyres gotta be some award for that. ida never come up with that. :beerhead:
  13. link to the kevis brand? i wanna see what else they got :D .
  14. TNT customs track bar whops everyone hands down but they cost abit more than everyone else as well. ill try to get a pic of mine. oh and its a praticaly 1ton rated track bar. thats plety of strength. and it doesnt use TRE's or heim's. it uses rubber bushings that look like the ones on stock controll arms. i really need to get a pic.
  15. theyre a street tire and dusty dirt road tire. they clean worse than pro crap AT's and bfg AT's. theyre popular with big trucks since they are made in big wide sizes, look cool, and arent loud. i will admit that i havnet seen them on rocks. i wonder how thed do.
  16. well not everyone brings as much as me but for my TJ i bring: spare: full size tire tps starter oil mixed rad fluid. u joint gear lube serpentine belt spare brake lines (stock ones that work when some things are disconnected) brake fluid other stuff: wrenches and sockets from the tiny sizes to 1"1/2 (metric and standard) couple channel locks (diff sizes) two rolls of duck tape (yeah it fixes everything) wire brush hack saw with lenox blade (top quality that will last) electircal tape battery jump starter (so there doesnt have to be a vehicle near to get a jump) 1in D-rings (4) 50ft snatch strap w/o hooks (hooks are dangerous) rated to 30K lbs tree saver strap rated to 50k lbs sometimes i bring some chain short shovel axe (shovel and axe can be stored quite well like on a roll bar) CB radio with amplifier incase i don't have cell service small 2gal gas can. its been a night saver a few times now, and not just for me. and lots of other very small misc things. oh and a small cooler with water and food (lots of water, youll be suprised how much youll drink) long list but its rare that i break down and don't fix it and drive home.
  17. one guy up here with a lwb mj had them on and spring over. he said they were more like 3in lift springs but their flex is insane. ill buy a set once i have some $$$, christmas has put me in the poor house.
  18. I'm running 10in lift with 37"iroks. but I'm in the process of axle swap so no pics. oh and i got TJ fender flares on and body trimmed so theyres more room for the 37's. doubt ill have pics up in time to help ya.
  19. simple answer. yes. they are bout as strong as a 60 and have better pumpkin clearance. thats what I'm lookin at to possibly run on my Mj.
  20. well after a fair bit of research id choose the vac disco one if there werent hard core rock crawling plans. reason: no one likes them so parts are everywhere, the vacume can be replaced by the allways reliable cable, it can be lincoln locked and still drove on the street like ya didnt have a locker due to the disconect. now also consider that if your gonna hard core rock crawl then the front steering on street won't be of much concern since it probly won't see much or anny street driving at all. so the extra strength of non disco axles is the better choice.
  21. why are ya puttin a 35 in there? the 8.25 is stronger. the D35 can't handle annthing your boggers.
  22. SSR's. radial tsl with decent looks. its not my fav, but still an eye catcher.
  23. go the explorer 8.8 route. its stronger than a 44 by a tad bit and you get disc brakes. also you don't have to change the carrier to run gears lower than 4.10.
  24. nice dyi job but id be worried itll bend. still better than stock though.
  25. thx for the flex pics. ill def be doin tj flares after seeing how good they look and that them 37's can stuff in there. note: i reccomend bedlining the flares. i did that to my wranglers flares and wow they look good and I'm not afraid of dragging them across small trees and what not else anymore.
