Can't you stick your finger into the square cutout where the fuse box was and reach the circled area with a dab of RTV on the back side? It will at least let you know what to look for by feeling if it is flush and perhaps covered in undercoating.

Hey E, Nice job! That transmission looks eerily familiar.

Military Wrapped Springs With Lift, Group Buy
Biotex replied to Biotex's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Tim, The weakest link to the springs seems to be right at the eye hole on the main spring. At least this is where I see them fail. For the little extra money it costs, I personally think it to be worth it. The only way I plan to order a set of springs is if they have the second wrap. I'm going off road and would like the extra assurance. Do we need it? probably not. Just another way to make my manche a bit more personalized. It is looking like there is enough interest anyways to get an order together both ways. Again Tim, thanks for helping to take charge of this. -

Thanks tim. I'm thinking it best for me to go 3/2 or 4/1 also. I don't really know what the differences would be, so can't hardly be wrong. -
In my experience, runningthe PCV tube into the air cleaner housing makes a mess and dirtys up your filter. You ideally want those fumes to go directly into the manifold out of sight. I hope i'm reading your question correctly and are talking the actual PCV tube and not the other one.

Yes, I believe they did also. I was just trying to comment on the stock TJ's not coming with D44 as standard equip. Rubicon yes. Unlimiteds yes. Sorry this got so convoluted.I'm not sure if the FRONT unlimited axle was stock D44 or optional...
-
Mine is a standard. Does that matter? it must or you wouldn't have mentioned it...
-
Something closer? I can drive all day and still be nowhere... Reason I want to take the steering wheel apart and add the parts, is so shipping is cheaper. I have rebuilt several coumns over the years, and have the tools. A good winter project. How much for the parts? Mine is a renix and manual tranny.

If your replacement DS does not have a way to lengthen and shorten depending upon flex, then you will most definately break something. If I had to guess, it would be the expensive aluminum housing on your transfer case.
-
D44 only came on the rubicon model. TJ's come standard with the D35. Not sure if that was what you were saying or not.
-
Yes, the 05/06 does have the OPDA issue, but just recently Dorman has released a fix for it. I own an 06 Rubicon, and love it. Knowing what I know now, I would have bought an LJ. The extra room is nice, but the longer rear drive shaft allows for more than 4" lift. I run 4" lift and 35's. Very nice ride.

Ok, so as I understand it, the 3/2 pack will net us around 1 1/2" to 2" of lift. I would prefer a solid 2" to 2 1/2" of lift, but close enough. The mods are working on getting G.S. into the vendor section where we can order up. I see we have enough interest for an order, so hopefully Mr. Wallace will chime in to let us know how to order. Looking at that last picture posted, it appears it is going to be very close fit with a mil. wrap. Anyone else got some more pictures showing different angles of the clearance? -
As the PCV sucks out blowby gasses from inside the crank case, there needs to be a filtered source of outside air to enter the crank case so there is neither a vacuum or pressure inside. That hose going to the air cleaner is the filtered sourse of air to enter the valve cover to replace what is being sucked out.

Putting out some feelers to see if anyone has the parts I need to add cruise to my Comanche. Currently has tilt wheel no cruise.
-
I thought the unlimited was designated LJ. I also am thinking the YJ's and TJ's are called wranglers. So 87 up to 06 would be considered a wrangler I'm thinking.
-
Are the controls on the turn signal switch, or on the steering wheel? If on the switch, can't I just swap the levers, or do I need to still swap the whole column.
-
What are my options to economically add cruise?
-
They should pop out seperately of the surrounding chamber. I believe they pivot on the top and bottom center. That is the area to spread taller to pry it out.
-
The big three manufacturers spend millions of dollars on R&D to try to get even 1/4 mpg better economy. Do you really beieve they havent tried HHO in some way or another? Or is it another conspiracy? Wake up! It's the placebo effect mentioned in the post above ^

Tim, G.S. is going to custom make springs for our trucks. They will make whatever lift we ask for. Just need to get enough guys together to make an order so they can do a run of 5 or more sets to help bring the costs down. Personally I want 2" of lift. I'm reading that the MT (metric Tonne) springs net a couple of inches of lift just because they have a higher spring rate. Yes they will ride a bit rougher, how much is debateable. That is the price to pay for load capacity. -
Turn Signal Switch Swap
Biotex replied to Comanchemodder's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I just did mine to cure some wierd signal/light issues. Turned out someone had swapped in an 1156 bulb into an 1157 socket and shorted the two terminals together. Might check your situation and see if that is the problem also. -

Can someone please post a picture of the front hangars for Mr. Wallace? I sold my 88 to make room for a 90 model, but it is not at my house yet. -

I sure hope so. I already used the one where I'm a beta tester and the factory needs my input to help with a new design. -

So, Mr. Wallace. How do you want us to handle the orders? Do you want each of us to call them in seperately? I would like to use my pay pal account if possible. Then when they show up, I can tell the wifey that I won them in a contest... -
I agree not to let them idle too much. They tend to run rich because the converter temp never gets hot enough. The prolonged running rich is not the best for engine cleanliness which will reduce mpg's in the long run.
