  1. Very cool. I have a set still in the OEM box with the OEM staple holding them closed. I am afraid to put them on. I just know as soon as I put them on, some one is going to rear end me or something. I think I'll have to put them on when I get the truck painted though. It's sad, but I'm scared to use them! I want to go insure them specifically or something!
  2. I sent the guy an email trying to get more pics of it, but he said I'll have to just come look at it. I think my wife would kill me, cuz I don't think I could go look at it and not buy it! I need another comanche like I need a hole in my foot.
  3. I'm here representing Orange County. Anyone else?
  4. Did anyone wire up the little bs light that comes with them too? It's a little blue halogen that pops in on the bottom on mine. I didn't bother wiring it up, just curious if anyone did. I guess they are for running lights?
  5. AHAHAA funny guy!
  6. I installed the regular ones in mine. I didn't even bother with the junk bulbs they sent, and put in some high quality h4s. I love them. Pretty bright imo. I used them in my 87 (but had 2001 wiring) and now in the 92. Very happy with them. Image Not Found
  7. Yea it looks like an added in piece of steel to tie the cage into the body. Regular dimple dies will do it
  8. I am not the one selling this nor do I know the person who is. I just wanted to show something I found as a very nice example of what Comanches can become. http://www.race-dezert.com/cgi-bin/trad ... d&id=15128
  9. I think the point of the "(XJ Series)" was to ensure that people knew he was talking about the MJ and not a J truck with the Comanche package. Originally that's what Comanche was, a package on a J truck. Just like Ford and the Ranger. Originally a package for the F100 (I believe) and then turned into a mid/compact truck.
  10. I agree with Pete. My truck is a PITA and a pile of junk to some people, but to me SHE'S gold. Yes, I do refer to it as a she. I consider my Jeep part of my family. Granted it's not nearly as important and any human being in my family, not even as important as my dog, but it's certainly more important then my wife's stupid cats. Pete was saying that his truck has more personality than most pets, and I'd have to agree. Mine is maybe about the same as one of the stupid cats (he's a quirky little bugger) but the other one is useless. She hates everyone, even my wife. She gets nothing but love from my wife, I just stay away, don't even torment her like I dream about. So does that cat not deserve a name? Yea she's flesh and blood, but she's useless. No point in having her as a pet. Why does a street deserve a name? It's not flesh and blood. It's a way to know what it is. It's different from any other street. Same for a vehicle, should the owner of said vehicle want to. Something to differentiate it from the others of it's kind. Anyhow, we could debate this until we are blue in the face. The nice thing is though, we don't all have to agree. We aren't in a communism here. We are allowed to have our opinions. OK, I'll get off my now.
  11. That's right! Thank you. As far as naming them...I don't ever refer to mine by those names when I am talking to anyone about them. It's just one of those things. I don't name everything either. None of the other 11 or so vehicles I have had through my life have ever gotten names. Sometimes names just fit. But to each his own, right?
  12. My blue truck is/was "Rooster" based on the song from Stone Temple Pilots (?) " Can't kill the Rooster..." - the blasted thing just wouldn't die. My current rig is "LastMJ" for 2 reasons - 1 because it's a 1992, the last year of the Comanche. And 2 it's the Last MJ that I will ever own and/or buy. It's the perfect truck! (almost, but it will be!)
  13. Ouch, didn't know that had all happened. I was close to jumping on that too. Karma will come around for that person tho
  14. I don't normally like to link over to other sites...but this XJ 2500 is too freakin sweet not to share. http://naxja.org/forum/showthread.php?t=996053
  15. I guess I was wrong on both counts! HaHa Glad someone knew though
  16. The first one looks like it might be the second plug for the tps (which would only be used it you were running an automatic) The second on looks like a pressure sender plug? appears to be a two wire though...not exactly sure. Heck, it could even be an oxygen sensor or something.
  17. I voted no. The 1/8" is good for the plating, but I would add a steering box brace to help tie everything in to the other side of the vehicle.
  18. How about wheel bolt patterns: CJ - 1941 - 1986 5 on 5.5 DJ - 1954 - 1982 ??years 5 on 5.5?? 19. The biggest thing that stuck out to me on the blue XJ is the trac-bar plane compared to the drag link plane......that thing is going to have the worst bumpsteer and death wobble.... And 24" shackles.......What can I say......it has gotta have sooooooo much side roll. I don't like doing shackles more than 4 or 5 inches over stock for that reason....imagining one that's 18 - 20" over stock??? Kinda makes me throw up a little.
  20. A few minutes ago I was talking to a guy in Arizona who is going to build a Jeepspeed XJ. I started telling him about all the junk I've got on LastMJ. The guy was in awe. His dad had a bunch of comanches when he was younger. I guess his dad had a 4cyl that he raced in some sort of street type bracket racing. He didn't know much about it though. All he remembered was his dad getting that little 4 banger to scream!
  21. Got a new one. http://imgonnawin27.mybrute.com/ Still a low level, but he is special.

    It's official

As everyone can see, there are a lot of opinions on this subject. All I know is that I'm going to go have a talk with my boss to see about stocking up on some of the common "dealer only" items before we get stuck in the backorder craze. I work for an offroad shop and we use a large amount of aftermarket parts, but we are a full service shop. So we use a good amount of factory parts as well. Some parts are available aftermarket through companies like Crown or Omix-Ada, but not all. Essentially, for the last 30 some odd years, we have been trying to steal the business away from Dealer service. It's getting harder and harder to cut our slice of the pie from companies like 4 wheel parts and from Dealerships. The only thing I can see that might be a good thing for shops like mine are that more people will want to repair their vehicle versus replacing it. Really, we can sit here and debate on what will happen until we are blue in the face. No one truly knows exactly what will happen. There are so many possibilities that it's frustrating. All we can do is hold on and hope for the best. Kind of like a vehicle roll over. Wait until the dust settles and build the rig back up. I'll step off my soap box now. --Jake
  23. Sorry guys, I hate to say it, but man am I glad that I live in Southern California. Really though, I (and those here with me) pay the price. Concrete Jungle for miles, people everywhere, and don't get me started on the cost of housing...
